Key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Under supervision, the Intern will be required to:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and maintain an in-depth and working knowledge of broadband networking technologies, standards, policies and market trends.
\n\tDevelop and maintain network scripts with respect to network monitoring.
\n\tTake a supporting role in planning and design project to grow the reach and\/or capacity of the SANReN network on a national level.
\n\tTake a supporting role in the functional requirement development and evaluation of large-scale SANReN network engineering-related tender spanning multiple network regions.
\n\tTake responsibility for the quality assurance of the technical solutions and associated documentation for network engineering efforts is his\/her domain of responsibility.
\n\tContribute to the network engineering body of knowledge by participating in relevant conferences, symposiums, etc.
\n\tConfigure networking equipment for client deployments.
\n\tTravel throughout South Africa to roll out or maintain networking equipment and infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualifications, skills and experience:<\/p>\n
\tA Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electronic engineering or related engineering field;\u00a0
\n\tCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or JNCIA-Junos or equivalent would be advantageous;
\n\tCoursework in computer programming
\n\tCoursework in Computer Networks
\n\tDemonstrated interest in scripting languages (bash, Perl, Python, for example)
\n\tProficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
\n\tDriver’s Licence<\/p>\n
