\tThe Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate costing, financial control, and reporting across all production units, including fresh meat processing, frozen products, and value-added\/processed items (e.g., polony, viennas, bacon, mince, marinated products).\u00a0
\n\tThe role ensures integrity of production costs, stock, yields, variances, and consumption data to support profitability, operational efficiency, and compliance with internal controls and food-manufacturing standards.\u00a0

Job Objectives\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
Costing & Production Finance\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all products across Fresh, Processed and CPM departments.\u00a0
\n\tValidate standard costs, including raw materials, ingredients, packaging, labour, and overhead allocations.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor and analyse actual vs standard cost variances, including: \u00a0
\n\tRaw material usage\u00a0
\n\tYield losses\u00a0
\n\tWaste and trimmings\u00a0
\n\tRework and WIP variances\u00a0
\n\tWork closely with Production Managers to investigate and resolve discrepancies. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Inventory & Stock Control\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tOversee accurate daily, weekly and month end stock reconciliations for raw materials, WIP and finished goods.\u00a0
\n\tVerify and reconcile production run sheets, consumption records, and stock movement reports.\u00a0
\n\tAnalyse yield performance per product line (e.g., deboning, mincing, tumbling, cooking, slicing).\u00a0
\n\tEnsure accurate allocation of stock to departments and stores, including frozen, dry, and raw materials stores.\u00a0
\n\tSupport cycle counts and full stock counts; investigate stock variances and recommend corrective action.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Month End Responsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tPrepare and post accruals, provisions, cost allocations, and production costing journals.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain and reconcile the General Ledger for all production related accounts.\u00a0
\n\tCalculate month end inventory valuations (RM, WIP, FG) in line with TBMC policy.\u00a0
\n\tPrepare monthly manufacturing financial reports, including: \u00a0
\n\tGross margin by product line\u00a0
\n\tYield & variance analysis\u00a0
\n\tCost of poor quality (COPQ)\u00a0
\n\tWaste\/scrap reporting\u00a0<\/p>\n
Debtors & Creditors Support (Manufacturing Related)\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tVerify supplier invoices for accuracy of cost allocations (ingredients, raw materials, PPE, packaging, consumables).\u00a0
\n\tMonitor recovery income and internal charges between Fresh, Processed and CPM units.\u00a0
\n\tAssist with debtor invoicing where internal or external charges apply.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Operational Reporting & Business Partnering\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tProvide finance support to Production, Planning, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams.\u00a0
\n\tParticipate in daily\/weekly operational meetings to present cost, yield and variance insights.\u00a0
\n\tIdentify cost saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.\u00a0
\n\tSupport CAPEX feasibility calculations and post implementation reviews.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Compliance & Internal Controls\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ensure adherence to: \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tFood manufacturing financial controls\u00a0
\n\tHACCP linked stock handling controls (e.g., traceability, waste recording, batch tracking)\u00a0
\n\tCompany policies, IFRS, and audit requirements\u00a0
\n\tSupport internal and external audits with accurate documentation and reconciliations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualifications\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in finance, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, or equivalent (NQF 7). \u00a0
\n\tCIMA, SAIPA, or similar certification advantageous.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\t3\u20135 years\u2019 experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or FMCG environment (meat processing preferred).\u00a0<\/p>\n
