Role Overview<\/p>\n
\tThe Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for the fund accounting function of the SALT Umbrella Provident \/ Pension Funds. The senior Fund Accountant also assists on all operational matters as they relate to the management of the Fund Accounting portfolio.<\/p>\n
Areas of Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tOperational
\n\tBanking
\n\tSet up payments on banking, extract bank statements
\n\tCheck that bank statements are updated and bank reconciliations done accurately and on time.
\n\tCashflow management of funds and forecasting of cash requirements in line with the funds policy\/ies.
\n\tOversee and enhance the relationship with the fund\/s bankers.<\/p>\n
Accounts<\/p>\n
\tOversee and manage existing system controls and introduce new enhancements to streamline workflow and mitigate risk factors.
\n\tPreparing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
\n\tDevelopment, implementation and management of effective financial controls.
\n\tPreparation of fund accounts in line with the fund\/s accounting policies and implementation of any changes.
\n\tEnsure adherence to the Service Level Agreement (SLA) of the fund\/s.
\n\tChecking all monthly reconciliations (Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable).
\n\tPreparation and review of monthly working papers reating to ledger accounts (GL).
\n\tEnsuring that all systems in the department are in a working condition.<\/p>\n
Investments<\/p>\n
\tLiaising with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to communicate information and resolve issues on a timely basis.
\n\tMonitor and control investment \/ disinvestment with the respective Investment Managers.
\n\tPrepare monthly investment reconciliations.
\n\tEnsure accurate loading of daily unit prices
\n\tEnsure accurate loading of cashflow unit prices
\n\tEnsuring Investments are balanced accurately (ALM).
\n\tSARS
\n\tSubmission of monthly EMP201 and Bi annual 501 recons
\n\tSARS queries and resolution
\n\tAudit
\n\tPlanning and coordination of the audits to ensure the audit function is executed on a timely and efficient basis.
\n\tChecking of audit files and working papers for submission to the Fund Accounting Manager.
\n\tPreparation of the annual financial statements.
\n\tProviding responses on audit requirements ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met.
\n\tImplementing recommendations from the auditors.
\n\tElectronic submission of financial statements to the FSCA.<\/p>\n
Valuation<\/p>\n
\tPreparation of member data pertaing to the the valuation of the fund\/s.
\n\tLiaising with the actuary for the timeous valuation of the fund\/s.
\n\tImplementing recommendations from the valuator.<\/p>\n
Legislative<\/p>\n
\tProvide oversight in the Compliance Management function to ensure that:
\n\tthe company compliance framework and policies are properly embedded and implemented in the business.
\n\tthere is regular reporting on compliance breaches and progress on mitigation and management plans.
\n\tadministrative penalties as a result of compliance breaches are minimised.
\n\tMonitor the performance of Compliance operational activities within Salt EB to minimise compliance risk through adherence to policies, procedures, and guidelines and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
\n\tWorking closely with the management to ensure that all key risks are identified and are adequately communicated to the relevant business owners.
\n\tReporting
\n\tPreparing monthly management accounts, cashflow statements and investment recons.
\n\tDrafting of the annual budget for the fund\/s and monthly tracking of the fund\/s income and expenses against the budget.
\n\tProvide relevant information for the preparation of fund\/s board packs.
\n\tSARB and C48 reporting
\n\tEnsure that quarterly Reg 28 compliance reporting is accurate
\n\tCommunicate to management with regard to any fraudulent activities and misrepresentation of information.
\n\tCustomer
\n\tEnsure adherence to customer and service provider SLA\u2019s.
\n\tPeople
\n\tAssist administrators with accounting issues.<\/p>\n
Education & Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tCom. Accounting Degree or similar qualification.<\/p>\n
Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience<\/p>\n
\tAt least 3 years\u2019 experience in a similar role
\n\tEvidence of managing a small \u2013 medium, but effective team.
\n\tComputer Literate (Microsoft Office, Excel advance, Work).
\n\tEverest knowledge required.
\n\tCaseware knowledge will be an advantage.
\n\tGood communication skill.
\n\tDeadline driven.
\n\tLeadership skills.<\/p>\n
