Job Description<\/p>\n
\tThe Junior Nutritionist is responsible for supporting the formulation, quality, and nutritional management of animal feed products to ensure optimal animal performance, cost effectiveness, legal compliance, and customer satisfaction.
\n\tThe role assists with feed formulations, raw material evaluations, quality monitoring, technical support, and continuous improvement initiatives within the feed mill operation.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBSc Degree or Diploma in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agricultural Science, or related field.
\n\t1\u20133 years\u2019 experience in animal nutrition or feed manufacturing environment preferred.
\n\tExposure to feed formulation systems and feed mill operations will be advantageous.<\/p>\n
Duties & Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tSupport the maintenance and updating of feed formulations on formulation software.
\n\tMonitor nutritional specifications to ensure feed consistency and performance.
\n\tAssist in evaluating alternative raw materials and feed additives for cost savings and nutritional value.
\n\tSupport least-cost formulation processes while maintaining product quality standards.
\n\tAssist with feed trials and performance monitoring where required.
\n\tMonitor raw material quality and nutritional parameters.
\n\tAssist with the interpretation of laboratory results and nutritional analyses.
\n\tSupport quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with internal standards and industry regulations.
\n\tWork closely with Quality Control personnel regarding moisture levels, contamination risks, nutrient deviations, and product consistency.
\n\tInvestigate quality-related deviations and assist with corrective actions.
\n\tSupport the management of rework materials and ingredient utilization.
\n\tLiaise with production personnel to ensure correct feed manufacturing according to formulation specifications.
\n\tAssist production teams with technical queries related to feed formulations and ingredient usage.
\n\tMonitor batching accuracy and adherence to formulation instructions.
\n\tAssist in managing formulation updates during raw material shortages or operational constraints.
\n\tParticipate in feed mill troubleshooting relating to pellet quality, mixing consistency, and feed performance.
\n\tEnsure compliance with company policies, feed safety standards, and relevant industry regulations including Animal Feed Manufacturers Association (AFMA) requirements where applicable.
\n\tMaintain accurate formulation records, nutritional data, and technical documentation.
\n\tAssist with technical reporting and data analysis.
\n\tSupport stock management initiatives related to raw materials and additives.
\n\tParticipate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
\n\tProvide basic technical support to sales teams and customers regarding feed products and feeding programs.
\n\tAssist in resolving customer complaints related to feed quality or animal performance.
\n\tSupport on-farm investigations and technical visits where required.<\/p>\n
Knowledge & Skills<\/p>\n
\tBasic understanding of animal nutrition principles.
\n\tKnowledge of feed ingredients and raw materials.
\n\tUnderstanding of feed manufacturing processes.
\n\tComputer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and formulation software.
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\n\tGood communication and interpersonal skills.
\n\tAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
\n\tAttention to detail and numerical accuracy.<\/p>\n
