\tSappi Southern Africa is seeking an accomplished Valuation Specialist to join our Forestry Division \u2014 a role central to safeguarding the financial integrity of one of the world\u2019s most respected sustainable forestry businesses.
\n\tYou will lead the valuation of our biological assets, manage complex lease portfolios, and guide key financial processes that underpin strategic decision\u2011making across the organisation. The main responsibilities of this job are:<\/p>\n
Plantation Valuation<\/p>\n
\tLead the quarterly valuation of Sappi\u2019s extensive biological assets.
\n\tEnsure full compliance with IAS 41 and IFRS 13.
\n\tPrepare detailed audit files, perform analytical reviews, and deliver valuation insights to senior leadership.<\/p>\n
IFRS 16 Lease Management<\/p>\n
\tOversee IFRS 16 lease accounting across Sappi Southern Africa.
\n\tAssess new lease agreements, quantify financial impacts, and manage all related accounting entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.<\/p>\n
Sundry Debtor Management<\/p>\n
\tManage the Forestry Division\u2019s sundry billing and debtor processes.
\n\tOversee customer account creation, review ageing analyses, ensure billing accuracy, and drive timely collections to support divisional cash flow.<\/p>\n
Fixed Asset Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate and compliant fixed asset records.
\n\tPerform reconciliations between the asset register and general ledger.
\n\tOversee physical asset verifications, monitor CAPEX, and ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
\tLead and mentor the divisional cash book, sundry debtors, and office reception teams.
\n\tSet performance expectations, provide coaching, and ensure operational excellence and adherence to organisational standards.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate should have:<\/p>\n
\tHonours degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
\n\tCA qualification is advantageous.
\n\tProven experience in forestry valuation or biological asset valuation aligned to IAS 41 in advantageous.
\n\tStrong working knowledge of IFRS 16 lease management.
\n\tDemonstrated leadership or team management experience.
\n\tExceptional analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
\n\tProficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
\n\tExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.<\/p>\n
