Purpose of Job<\/p>\n
\tTo achieve defined performance targets in section through building of operator capabilities and planning, organizing and controlling the day-to-day Mining activities.<\/p>\n
Key Accountabilities<\/p>\n
\tManage crew to meet production targets.
\n\tManage safety, health and environmental issues in section.
\n\tEnsure competence of crew.
\n\tDemonstrate continuous drive to improve.
\n\tAct as Relieving Shift Boss at times.
\n\tManage more complex mining activities.
\n\tIdentify training and development needs of crew.
\n\tEnsure adequate materials availability in section.
\n\tSAP inputs when acting as Shift Boss.
\n\tRepresent Shift Boss in OE meetings and transfer knowledge of OE reports to other Miners and Artisans.
\n\tEnsure to take reasonable measures to ensure the health and safety of employees responsible for in section.
\n\tOversee safe transport of team to and from the section.
\n\tConduct start and end of shift inspections.
\n\tConduct statutory inspections e.g. gas & ventilation tests.
\n\tComplete statutory reports.
\n\tPerform risk assessments.
\n\tPerform task observations.
\n\tConduct at least rescue drill with team per month to rescue room and after all section moves.
\n\tOversee housekeeping of section.
\n\tEnsure team uses PPE and hand tools correctly.
\n\tDo fire patrol when necessary.
\n\tEnsure operators adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Practice.
\n\tCommand performance meetings with crew members.
\n\tManage attendance of crew.
\n\tSubmit accurate and fully completed section reports on time.
\n\tMaintain accurate operator records (e.g. valid licensing of operators).
\n\tRequest necessary in section mining materials and resources.
\n\tEnsure availability of adequate materials in section.
\n\tDo SAP inputs (e.g. time and attendance and placing orders PTP when relieving shift boss).
\n\tRepresent Shift Boss in Operational Excellence meetings.
\n\tTransfer knowledge of Operational Excellence reports to other Miners and Artisans.
\n\tManage pillar extraction section (where applicable).
\n\tAct as relieving Shift Boss when required.
\n\tCompliance to elements measured by audits and checks by manager.
\n\tRectify findings on audit results.
\n\tWork completed to plan.
\n\tMinimum wastage and disruptions to production due to resource availability.
\n\tNQF standards and training matrix requirements met.
\n\tResponsible for personal training and development needs.
\n\tDemonstrate self discipline by complying with legal and other requirements.
\n\tAchieve people development targets for shift (KPIs and personal development plans).
\n\tCoach operators in section.
\n\tEnsure all coaching and training is understood and applied by operators.
\n\tIdentify training and development needs of team and address them in consultation with other role players.
\n\tProvide timely and constructive feedback to team members on their performance and address non-conformance.
\n\tUnderstand mine requirements and ensures product \/ services meets mine requirements.
\n\tEffective networking and liaison with technical, engineering and financial departments.
\n\tEnsure transition of work from own shift to next shift.
\n\tApply new ideas \/ work methods to improve results.
\n\tProvide information \/ assist with projects with technical \/ support functions.
\n\tAssist with implementation of organisational change initiatives within own team.<\/p>\n
