compelling and incisive News Bulletins and Content in accordance with SABC News and Current Affairs\u2019 editorial objectives and the public mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Key Accountabilities:<\/p>\n<p>\tLead the Afrikaans Bulletin team in identifying, selecting, translating and voicing stories and in compiling rundowns \/ running orders in accordance with SABC News and Current Affairs\u2019 editorial objectives and the public mandate.<br \/>\n\tLead effective and creative brainstorming sessions to determine content breadth and quality.<br \/>\n\tWork within tight deadlines to identify news stories appropriate for the target audience.<br \/>\n\tManage and direct staff to write, translate, voice, record, edit, produce and process news stories timeously.<br \/>\n\tEnsure the overall quality and accuracy of news content, language context, style and tone.<br \/>\n\tAdvise on the best stories to lead news bulletins and update stories as new information becomes available.<br \/>\n\tKeep up to date with all SABC News teams on the latest developments.<br \/>\n\tEnsure a balance in news bulletin stories and address gaps as soon as possible.<br \/>\n\tSupervise the performance of the team and give constructive feedback on stories, content and bulletins delivered timeously.<br \/>\n\tContinually communicate with relevant editors to find further newsworthy angles and follow-ups.<br \/>\n\tLiaise with technical support, where necessary, regarding the specific delivery of news content and bulletins.<br \/>\n\tAssist the bulletin team with accurate news reading delivery and pronunciation.<br \/>\n\tWrite, translate and read (present) bulletins.<br \/>\n\tOptimise news impact with illustrative audiovisuals and appropriately contextualised scripts, including for digital \/ online \/ social media.<br \/>\n\tEngage in, co-ordinate and check online \/ digital \/ social media activity and content to enhance bulletins.<br \/>\n\tSubmit daily end-of-shift production reports to line manager\/s and indicate problems requiring attention and offer solutions.<br \/>\n\tProcess all leave applications timeously after checking impact on rosters \/ shifts and required ICASA \/ radio station output.<br \/>\n\tCompile monthly roster and ensure adequate and appropriate staffing.<br \/>\n\tCommunicate with platforms, only following consultation, on any approved structural changes, including time slots and bulletin durations.<br \/>\n\tLead productive and creative editorial team sessions to determine appropriateness of editorial content for bulletins.<br \/>\n\tEnsure that news content meets the highest editorial and linguistic standards.<br \/>\n\tBe alert to any content that may require audience advisories, warnings and disclaimers and ensure that these are read prominently prior to airing the story concerned.<br \/>\n\tImplement the SABC\u2019s Performance Management System in accordance with policy, procedures and deadlines.<br \/>\n\tAdhere to South Africa\u2019s Constitution, all legislation, ICASA\u2019s licence conditions and regulations, the BCCSA and Press Council codes and rulings, the SABC Editorial Policies, SABC News style guide and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>\tNational diploma \/ bachelor\u2019s degree in journalism, media studies, communication or relevant equivalent qualifications.<br \/>\n\t6 years\u2019 proven experience in the journalism, editorial, writing and broadcasting environment, two of which must be in a supervisory capacity.<br \/>\n\tAfrikaans and English proficiency and fluency, including exceptional writing, translation, reading \/ presenting and speaking skills.<br \/>\n\tExceptional journalistic and editorial acumen.<br \/>\n\tExtensive knowledge of the relevant systems and broadcasting operations.<br \/>\n\tKnowledge and understanding of audio \/ radio and digital news production processes.<br \/>\n\tAbility to work under pressure and perform outstandingly to tight deadlines, including irregular hours.<br \/>\n\tUnderstanding of all legislation, regulations and policies impacting journalism, broadcasting, publishing and
