\tTo provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for RMA\u2019s Integrated Disability Management function, encompassing rehabilitation, disability management and pensioner welfare management.
\n\tThe role is accountable for designing and delivering an integrated, person-centred model that optimises recovery, return-to-work, long-term disability management, and social protection, while ensuring regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and measurable organizational and societal impact.
\n\tThe outcomes of integrated disability management will contribute\u00a0positive social impact in both the Social Insurance and Social Assistance pillars of South Africa\u2019s social security frameworks.<\/p>\n
WHAT WILL YOU DO?<\/p>\n
Strategic Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDefine and execute an Integrated Disability Management strategy aligned with the COID Act, Compensation Fund license requirements and RMA\u2019s Corporate and Social Insurance strategies.
\n\tIntegrate rehabilitation, disability management and pensioner welfare management into a cohesive, end-to-end service delivery model.
\n\tAnticipate legislative, healthcare, demographic, and labour market trends and proactively adapt the Integrated Disability Management strategy.<\/p>\n
Rehabilitation and Disability Management<\/p>\n
\tProvide executive oversight of clinical, vocational, and functional rehabilitation programmes.
\n\tDrive early intervention, return-to-work, and sustainable employability initiatives.
\n\tEnsure evidence-based practices to minimize long-term disability and dependency.
\n\tPursue RTW outcomes applying the dignified management of permanent disabilities.<\/p>\n
Pensioner Welfare Management<\/p>\n
\tLead the design and implementation of pensioner welfare management frameworks.
\n\tFormulate strategies to improve the livelihoods of pensioners and enhance their health benefits
\n\tOversee social assistance interventions aimed at improving quality of life and social inclusion for beneficiaries.
\n\tEnsure ethical, equitable, and sustainable delivery of pensioner and social support services.<\/p>\n
Operational Excellence and Service Delivery<\/p>\n
\tEstablish and optimize IDM operating models, policies, and performance frameworks.
\n\tEnsure consistent, high-quality service delivery across all IDM sub-functions.
\n\tDrive continuous improvement, innovation, and digitization within IDM processes.<\/p>\n
People Leadership and Capability Development<\/p>\n
\tLead, mentor, and develop multi-disciplinary teams across clinical, welfare, and operational domains.
\n\tBuild organizational capability in rehabilitation, disability management and pensioner welfare management
\n\tFoster a high-performance, values-driven culture with strong succession planning.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Influence and Partnerships<\/p>\n
\tBuild and maintain strategic relationships with healthcare providers, employers, pensioner bodies, regulators, and government stakeholders.
\n\tDevelop partnerships that will accelerate reach and access of RMA Social Insurance programs
\n\tInfluence internal stakeholders (Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, IT) to align IDM outcomes with enterprise objectives.
\n\tRepresent RMA in specialized industry and regulatory social insurance forums.<\/p>\n
Governance, Risk and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure full compliance with COIDA, healthcare, social welfare, and governance requirements.
\n\tEmbed robust risk management, clinical governance, and ethical frameworks.
\n\tContribute to enterprise risk management through proactive identification and mitigation of disability and welfare risks.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE TABLE?<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Health Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Medicine, Social Work, or related field.
\n\tPostgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9) in Disability Management, Occupational Health, Public Health, Social Policy, or Business Management (MBA) preferred.
\n\tRegistration with a relevant professional council (where applicable).
\n\t10 \u2013 12 years\u2019 experience in disability management, rehabilitation, social insurance, pensioner welfare, or related fields.
\n\tMinimum of 7 years in senior or executive leadership roles managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams.
\n\tProven experience within COID, workers\u2019 compensation, social insurance, or public health systems.
\n\tDemonstrated experience in large-scale programme design, transformation, and stakeholder management.
\n\tIntegrated Disability Management models and international best practices.
\n\tCOIDA and Insurance regulatory frameworks.
\n\tRehabilitation, disability management, and social assistance systems.
\n\tPensioner welfare management and social protection principles.
\n\tStrategic and systems-level thinking.
