RCL FOODS is looking for a Research and Development Intern to join our Baking Division. This role will be based in Pretoria West \u00a0and will report directly to the R&D Manager.<\/p>\n
Duration: 12 months<\/p>\n
\tThis internship is designed to provide workplace experience for current university students who need practical exposure to complete their qualifications.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBSc or BSc(Hons) in Food Science or equivalent qualification
\n\tNational Diploma or BTech in Food Technology or equivalent qualification<\/p>\n
Duties & Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nProduct development & Innovation<\/p>\n
\tAssist R&D Technician \/ Manager in the development of new products as per the project brief.
\n\tScreening of all raw materials to ensure they are suitable for the application and\/or manufacturing plant.
\n\tResponsible for testing alternative ingredients for cost or quality improvements
\n\tConduct product shelf life tests and complete reports
\n\tCompetitor benchmarking
\n\tAssist with setting up tasting sessions and preparation thereof
\n\tAssist in internal and external customer presentations<\/p>\n
Quality Assessments<\/p>\n
\tConduct softness, texture, volume and water activity tests, where required.
\n\tBasic interpretation of data collected from the quality assessment instruments<\/p>\n
Administration & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tMaintain the sample register & library
\n\tRecording and archiving of all laboratory trial data
\n\tRecording of all recipe revisions during the product development process.
\n\tCompiling of all test bakery reports
\n\tCompleting shelf life test reports<\/p>\n
Knowledge:<\/p>\n
\tBasic understanding of Food Science
\n\tBasic Food Chemistry
\n\tGood Laboratory Practice
\n\tGood Manufacturing Practice
\n\tComputer literacy<\/p>\n
