A renewable energy company is seeking a Junior Operations Engineer to support the Operations function in a technical and analytical capacity.
\n\tThe successful candidate will assist with the development of centralised operational capabilities, including reporting, auditing, data collection, digital systems support, and maintenance management across renewable energy assets. The role also forms part of a shared services function supporting Operations and Maintenance (O&M) projects, integration of new power plants, and development of digital management systems.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nPerformance Analysis & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tComplete performance and stakeholder reports.
\n\tComplete compliance reports and support on-site teams with reporting requirements and training where required.
\n\tTrigger investigations based on performance reports and support operational teams during investigations.
\n\tExecute data analysis activities to support business decision-making.
\n\tDevelop dashboards, business systems, and reporting tools to convert operational data into actionable insights.
\n\tVerify internal and contractual KPI reports.<\/p>\n
Digital Systems & Technical Support<\/p>\n
\tCarry out maintenance activities across SCADA systems.
\n\tManage Eskom billing meter activities.
\n\tSupport the implementation of centralised data collection, monitoring, and reporting systems.
\n\tAssist in developing performance analysis, event identification, and asset monitoring features within central monitoring platforms.
\n\tProvide support on DCS\/SCADA and other instrumentation and control systems across power plants.<\/p>\n
Maintenance Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain the CMMS system and support on-site operational teams.
\n\tEnsure maintenance management systems remain updated with required plant maintenance tasks.
\n\tSupport the development and maintenance of systems relating to BOP spare parts management.
\n\tAssist with the integration of new power plants into organisational maintenance standards.
\n\tSupport rollout and integration of central maintenance management systems.<\/p>\n
General Operations & Business Support<\/p>\n
Investigate and implement operational improvement projects where financially justifiable.<\/p>\n
\tCarry out operational data collection tasks.
\n\tSupport audit coordination, data gathering, and audit close-out activities.
\n\tExecute recurring centrally managed operational and maintenance activities.
\n\tTrack high-priority operational projects and develop reporting systems for business visibility.
\n\tAssist with ad-hoc Operations and Maintenance projects.
\n\tPerform additional work-related activities as delegated by management.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBEng or BSc in Engineering or equivalent NQF qualification.
\n\tMinimum 3 years\u2019 experience in a corporate environment, or 2 years\u2019 experience within the renewable energy sector.
\n\tExperience in renewable energy power plant operations or field maintenance preferred.
\n\tHigh proficiency in Microsoft Office, including:
\n\tOutlook
\n\tExcel
\n\tWord
\n\tPowerPoint
\n\tValid Code B driver\u2019s licence.
\n\tAdvantageous Experience
\n\tPrevious project management or coordination experience.
\n\tExperience with ERP\/CMMS systems such as:
\n\tSAP
\n\tRGC
\n\tOracle NetSuite
\n\tKnowledge of network data communications and hardware\/software architectures.
\n\tExperience with Python or similar programming languages.
\n\tExperience working with OSIsoft PI systems or similar performance analysis and portfolio data historian platforms.<\/p>\n
