\tCurrently we are looking for a\u202fCommunity Liaison Officer (CLO)\u00a0to be based near\u00a0Kathu, Northern Cape.\u202fAs the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) you will be responsible\u00a0to maintain stakeholder relations between Scatec and the community and implement social management processes to mitigate project-related impacts.
\n\tFacilitate and administer the implementation of economic development projects, building and fostering an environment that supports continuous community engagement and healthy stakeholder relations.<\/p>\n
Main Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tRelationship Building: Establish and maintain\u00a0 effective relationships between the local communities and Scatec
\n\tBuild and foster an environment that supports continuous community engagement
\n\tLiaise with local community stakeholders on behalf of Scatec
\n\tEngage, facilitate and represent Scatec in the event of public meetings
\n\tSupport the project manager with interfacing with local government and utilities
\n\tStakeholder Relationship Management:\u00a0Support Project E&S team in the implementation of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP)
\n\tProvide regular and timely information and project updates to the local community and relevant stakeholders, including employment and procurement opportunities at site
\n\tCreate a stakeholder database, develop and regularly update community profiles and expectations
\n\tProvide up to date feedback on social risk for inclusion in the Risk Matrix
\n\tInstitutional arrangements:\u00a0Liaise with the project management & local government offices in terms of employment and other opportunities for the communities
\n\tParticipate in relevant forums as a Scatec repressentative, such as Local Economic Development (LED) and Integrated Development Programme (IDP) forums, Youth and Local business forums, IPP community engagements etc.\u00a0
\n\tSocial management and community development:\u00a0Deliver monthly reports on activities.
\n\tReview and identify potential partners for community development initiatives
\n\tSupport the monitoring and evaluation of the Socio-Economic Development (SED) and Enterprise Development (ED) projects in the communities
\n\tCommunication and Reporting:\u00a0Develop and distribute regular communications to stakeholders, including newsletters, reports, and updates
\n\tPrepare and present reports on stakeholder engagement activities to senior management
\n\tMain point of contact with all community members within their respective geographical areas<\/p>\n
Qualifications And Competencies:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tAn appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma\/B-Degree\/equivalent or higher) in community development, the human or social sciences, or related fields
\n\tGeneral knowledge of local and provincial government practices, local policies, regulations, and community dynamics
\n\tWell-developed knowledge of local community cultures, leaders, customs and practices through prior involvement in the community
\n\tLanguage: Fluent in both written and spoken English & Afrikaans
\n\tIT skills: MS Office proficient
\n\tMust be able to work flexibly according to operational
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license
\n\tAt least 3-5 years\u2019 experience in the following areas are a plus: socio-economic development, stakeholder management, project management experience
\n\tAbility to identify key community risks and opportunities to be managed at the local level<\/p>\n
Must have:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDemonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills
\n\tAn ability to act as project representative
\n\tAn ability to articulate and deliver information both technical and general at community level
\n\tMediation and conflict resolution skills
\n\tAssessment and evaluation capabilities
\n\tAn ability to source and filter information for feeding back to the community
\n\tDemonstrated ability to liaise with all levels of society
\n\tDemonstrated event management and time management skills
\n\tAbility to coordinate and negotiate<\/p>\n
