Job Summary<\/p>\n
\tThis role involves managing and analysing cost data to support financial planning and operational efficiency within the Manufactured Timber Products (MTP) division in the Timber Department. \u00a0
\n\tThe successful candidate will be responsible for cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting, inventory and cost control, financial modelling, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities and Duties<\/p>\n
\tAnalyse cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
\n\tPrepare detailed cost reports and financial statements for management review wit
\n\tImplement, maintain and update cost drivers (financial and non-financial) to feed into the ERP system and relevant management reporting systems
\n\tDaily, weekly and monthly capturing of non-financial drivers into Excel\/ERP system
\n\tKnowledgeable of creating bill of materials for manufacturing products.
\n\tPrepare manufacturing, production, and service cost analysis reports on time and that is reliable
\n\tCompare actual costs against budgeted and standard costs and analyse variances with detailed variance explanations for deviations
\n\tSupport pricing decisions through cost-based analysis and margin evaluation
\n\tWork closely with operations and procurement teams to validate cost assumptions and inputs
\n\tAssist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
\n\tMonitor budget performance and provide variance analysis against financial goals
\n\tManage inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost allocation as well as accuracy of stock counts
\n\tImplement cost control measures to minimise waste and optimise resource utilisation
\n\tEnsure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
\n\tSupport internal and external audits by preparing documentation and providing insights
\n\tDevelop financial models to support strategic decision-making
\n\tProvide management with cost-related insights and recommendations
\n\tCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cost management into business processes
\n\tProvide training and support on cost accounting practices to promote continuous improvement
\n\tAssist with implementation of ERP and\/or other systems required by management<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Skills<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
\n\tProfessional certification such as CIMA (advantageous)
\n\tMinimum 3\u20135 years\u2019 experience in cost accounting
\n\tExperience within the timber or manufacturing of timber products sector
\n\tExtensive and proven knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices
\n\tUnderstanding of the timber and manufacturing industry and related financial dynamics
\n\tFamiliarity with accounting standards, compliance, and audit processes
\n\tProficiency in SAP, Oracle, Excel, Power BI, or similar accounting software and tools
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills
\n\tExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
\n\tHigh attention to detail and strong organisational skills
\n\tAbility to work collaboratively within a team environment
\n\tAbility to work independently with minimum supervision and provide feedback on weekly basis without requests from management
\n\tStrategic thinking and ability to influence decision-making
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license (Code 08)
\n\tBilingual in English and Afrikaans (advantageous)
\n\tWilling to travel for work (including neighbouring countries)
\n\tPosition will be on site at the relevant manufacturing mill (White River)<\/p>\n
