Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tVector Logistics is seeking to employ an experienced District Sales and Merchandising Manager to implement appropriate solutions in the form of value propositions to meet or exceed all sales goals, performance quotas and process expectations in the assigned area.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Sales Management:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and execute the area sales strategy as aligned to the regional strategy.
\n\tGenerate leads regarding prospective contract opportunities and, together with the Regional sales Manager, drive deal closure.
\n\tDrive the area contribution to strategic and operational target achievement.
\n\tContribute to accurate area sales (volume and product) forecasting and ensure alignment to and input into the regional and national planning processes.
\n\tTrack area competitor activity and performance.
\n\tDevelop, implement, and manage area marketing objectives.
\n\tDrive horizontal and vertical growth opportunities.
\n\tConstantly analyse statistics regarding the number of sales made in a given time period, the resulting profits, and the need for new clients and products.
\n\tCoordinate sales team promotional activities across the area.<\/p>\n
Customer Relationship Management:<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and expand the customer base by building and maintaining good relationships with key customers and recognising new customer opportunities.
\n\tUnderstand key customers\u2019 operations and strategies as well as their requirements and trends.
\n\tGather area market intelligence on national accounts and key regional accounts.
\n\tManage and coordinate area resources in line with customer plans in order to achieve strategic objectives (call planners etc).
\n\tEnsure the customer service policy is rigidly implemented and maintained.
\n\tResolve escalated customer queries and issues professionally and in the best interest of all parties.<\/p>\n
Supply Chain and Distribution Management:<\/p>\n
\tAddress area stock availability issues with depots.
\n\tOversee the area order taking process.<\/p>\n
Budget Management:<\/p>\n
\tDrive the achievement of the area sales budgets in terms of volume.
\n\tControl area sales costs.<\/p>\n
Area Team Management:<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the sales team creates demand pull.
\n\tPlan and schedule team training and monitor impact on performance.
\n\tOrganise and direct the area team towards the achievement of its targets and together with the team, identify sales goals, create, and implement strategies, and evaluate performance.
\n\tAccomplish area sales goals by orienting, instructing, assigning, scheduling, counselling, and disciplining staff.
\n\tAddress the job expectations of staff.
\n\tPlan, supervise, evaluate job contributions, and provide regular feedback.
\n\tManage staff leave and general time management issues in line with organisational deliverables and standards.
\n\tEnsure the accurate recording and maintenance of all employee information.
\n\tManage delivery against talent management action plans.
\n\tClarify roles and responsibilities for subordinates.
\n\tComplete skills and competency matrices for all subordinates.
\n\tFormulate\/update job profiles for all subordinate jobs.
\n\tCoach and mentor subordinates and potential successors.
\n\tDevelop and drive the training strategy.
\n\tDevelop and drive progression and career paths for subordinates.<\/p>\n

\n\tDegree in management, business administration and\/or marketing.
\n\tValid Code EB driver\u2019s license.
\n\t3 to 5 years’ experience in a marketing and sales function that includes coordinating sales teams and managing complex and\/or significant customer relationships.
