\n\tWe are seeking a compassionate, clinically confident, and service-driven\u00a0Medical Officer \u2013 Geriatric & Primary Care\u00a0Services to join our team,\u00a0working across Tokai Estate and Noordhoek Manor, with Tokai Estate serving as the primary base of operation. This role focuses on delivering high-quality retirement village and outpatient medical care while building long-term relationships with residents and supporting their ongoing healthcare needs.\u00a0
\n\tThis role is ideal for a doctor who enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and their families, providing continuity of care, and managing a broad range of healthcare needs within a retirement community. Unlike traditional high-volume practices, this position offers the opportunity to follow patients throughout their healthcare journey while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
\n\tYou will be exposed to a diverse patient population, including chronic disease management, geriatric medicine, preventative healthcare and multidisciplinary care planning.
\n\tThe successful candidate will work closely with nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals, care teams, and village management to ensure residents receive proactive, holistic, and high-quality medical care.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tConduct outpatient consultations and ongoing medical management of residents
\n\tRun and manage scheduled clinic sessions within the designated clinic operating times
\n\tIndependently manage and coordinate resident appointments and follow-up consultations within the facility environment
\n\tManage acute and chronic medical conditions within the retirement village environment
\n\tProvide preventative healthcare and wellness-focused interventions
\n\tEnsure accurate clinical coding and billing practices are applied for all services rendered
\n\tMaintain accurate, compliant, and up-to-date clinical documentation
\n\tCollaborate closely with nursing teams, allied healthcare professionals, and village management
\n\tSupport continuity of care and ensure appropriate referrals where required
\n\tAssist with family communication and care planning discussions when necessary
\n\tParticipate in multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure holistic patient care
\n\tEnsure ethical, patient-centred, and evidence-based clinical practice<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tBachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
\n\tBasic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)\u00a0
\n\tShort courses in Geriatric Medicine or Elderly Care – advantageous\u00a0
\n\tPalliative Care training or certification – advantageous\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience and Requirements<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 3 years\u2019 post-community service experience\u00a0
\n\tRegistered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
\n\tPrevious experience in outpatient, primary healthcare, family medicine, geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long-term care advantageous
\n\tExperience working within multidisciplinary healthcare environments advantageous
\n\tExposure to retirement village or elderly patient care would be beneficial<\/p>\n
