\tWe are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Head of Learning & Development to lead the design and execution of a future-focused learning strategy that enables business growth and capability building. This role will drive a high-impact learning agenda across the organisation, ensuring our people have the skills, tools, and leadership capability to thrive in a dynamic retail environment.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities
\nL&D Strategy & Framework<\/p>\n
\tDevelop the Group L&D strategy aligned to the People and Business strategy.
\n\tDesign the L&D framework aligned to the business model and capability needs, supporting the talent strategy.
\n\tTranslate long-term strategy and framework into clear tactical execution plans for the team.
\n\tDevelop and lead L&D policies.
\n\tDefine and track ROI measures for key learning outcomes.<\/p>\n
Skills Development<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and drive the skills development framework aligned to transformation and employment equity legislation across all divisions (including acquisitions).
\n\tLead the collation and submission of the annual Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) to the relevant SETA.
\n\tManage key stakeholder relationships (BBBEE Manager, Payroll, Tax, SETA, vendors, EE Committee, HR and business).
\n\tTake accountability for SETA spend, including rebates and refunds, in line with budget.
\n\tManage Delegation of Authority (DOA) contracts and processes for discretionary SETA grants.
\n\tBuild external networks across sectors to maximise funding opportunities and influence relevant tertiary curricula.
\n\tOversee skills development policy management.<\/p>\n
Academy Management<\/p>\n
\tManage learning demand across the business.
\n\tApprove in-house learning design and ensure quality of learner experience (including content for critical skills, version control, and brand alignment).
\n\tEnsure accuracy and integrity of learning data and reporting.
\n\tOversee learning technology platforms and tools.
\n\tPrioritise L&D focus areas and learning portfolio for the financial year.<\/p>\n
Governance, Risk & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tManage L&D policies, procedures, and legal contracts.
\n\tEnsure adherence to financial governance processes.
\n\tOversee all compliance reporting requirements.
\n\tManage L&D-related risks through the risk register.
\n\tStay up to date with skills development legislation and regulatory changes.<\/p>\n
Leadership & Team Management<\/p>\n
\tManage team capacity and performance against defined KPIs.
\n\tDrive succession planning within the L&D team.
\n\tEstablish and track team development goals.
\n\tFoster a high-performance, values-driven team culture aligned to organisational DNA<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in HR, Industrial Psychology, Education, or related field (Master\u2019s advantageous)<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\t8\u201312 years\u2019 experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role leading diverse teams
\n\tStrong experience in leadership development and organisational capability building
\n\tExposure to retail, FMCG, or multi-site environments highly advantageous
\n\tExperience with digital learning platforms and modern learning methodologies
\n\tExperience building, inspiring, and managing diverse\u200b teams
\n\tProvide thought leadership, design and delivery of the core capabilities of the learning and development team.<\/p>\n
