A bookkeeper is a financial professional responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for an organisation. They play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring that financial information is recorded and organised effectively.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDiploma in Bookkeeper or related.\u00a0
\n\tProven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.\u00a0
\n\tSolid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nBookkeeping:<\/p>\n
\tBookkeeping of at least 8 stores (subject to change at discretion of management).
\n\tProcessing of point-of-sale month-end reports.
\n\tProcessing of cashbooks (importing) and bank reconciliations.
\n\tProcessing of salary journals and timeous clearing of control accounts.
\n\tMonthly audit files to be prepared and submitted to senior by deadline dates.
\n\tPreparation of monthly management accounts to senior by deadline dates.
\n\tRaising of accruals, provisions, fixed asset journals and other journals.
\n\tLiaison with auditors.
\n\tLiaison with staff and owners at stores, management and others.
\n\tPayment of accounts on electronic banking.
\n\tAttending to daily queries at store level.
\n\tCompletion of credit application and other forms.<\/p>\n
Fixed Assets:<\/p>\n
\tMaintenance of fixed asset registers.
\n\tProcessing of fixed asset journals.
\n\tDepreciation, addition and disposal entries to be passed.
\n\tControl over documentation supporting additions and disposals.<\/p>\n
Debtors:<\/p>\n
\tPreparation and clearing of debtors reconciliations (+- 6 different types).
\n\tEnsuring that all EDI payments are receipted by stores timeously.
\n\tReconciling of cash banked by store to daybooks daily and follow-up of over\/under banking.
\n\tChecking of daybooks and daily sales summaries and follow-up of variances.
\n\tMonitoring of debt collection and debtors ageing.<\/p>\n
Stock:<\/p>\n
\tMonitoring and follow-up of stock count variances.<\/p>\n
Statutory returns:<\/p>\n
\tReconciliation of VAT \u2013 box reports to General Ledger.
\n\tPreparation of VAT returns and submission and payment thereof.
\n\tReconciliation of PAYE and follow-up of outstanding items.
\n\tPreparation of PAYE returns and submission and payment thereof.
\n\tLiaison with SARS in clearing old, outstanding items.<\/p>\n
