Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Contractor and Legal Compliance<\/p>\n
\tReview health and safety documentation submitted by Principal Contractors for all construction and operational activities.
\n\tConfirm that each subcontractor has a signed section 37.2 agreement and CR 7(1)(c)(v) appointment in place before work commences.
\n\tVerify that Principal Contractors and subcontractors are in good standing with the Workman\u2019s Compensation Fund
\n\tEnsure all legal appointments and competency records are signed and verified before accepting health and safety files for projects.
\n\tEnsure all contractors and subcontractors have an approved health and safety plan and file in place before starting work on site.
\n\tEscalate contractor non-compliance to the Line Manager in a timely manner.<\/p>\n
Site Compliance and Operational Oversight<\/p>\n
\tVerify that all persons entering site hold a valid Certificate of Fitness (COF), Annexure 3, issued by a registered practitioner.
\n\tEnsure all incidents are recorded and formally closed out on the Case Management System.
\n\tReview incident records and follow up on preliminary and final reports submitted by contractors.<\/p>\n
Incident Management and Reporting<\/p>\n
\tConfirm all incidents are logged and closed out on the Case Management System.<\/p>\n
Reporting, Records and Governance<\/p>\n
\tCollect and verify health and safety reports from site officers before submission to the Health and Safety Manager.
\n\tSupport the head office health and safety structure, including attending and recording representative meetings.
\n\tSupport the Office Manager in coordinating and documenting quarterly health and safety meetings.
\n\tTrack meeting actions to confirm timely close-out and raise non-conformances where deadlines are not met.
\n\tScan, index, and save all health and safety reports and supporting documents on the network.
\n\tMaintain and archive safety files as projects are completed.<\/p>\n
Operational Support and Monitoring<\/p>\n
\tDistribute and manage personal protective equipment for site personnel.
\n\tAssist with the delivery of health and safety training as required.
\n\tSupport legal compliance audits across operations, maintenance, and head office functions.
\n\tSupport occupational hygiene surveys, including illumination, thermal stress, and ergonomics assessments, at head office and O&M sites.
\n\tTravel to designated sites to monitor compliance with OHSA, ESMS, and related health and safety requirements.
\n\tMonitor and support implementation of health and safety and ESMS requirements at IPP and contractor level.<\/p>\n
Minimum\u00a0Educational\u00a0Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
\n\tA recognised health and safety qualification such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH International General Certificate, or an equivalent certification is required.
\n\tTraining in incident investigation, hazard identification and risk assessment, and legal liability is required.
\n\tSound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, and construction and operational health and safety requirements is essential.
\n\tISO 45001 training and auditing experience will be advantageous.
\n\tA minimum of 3 to 5 years\u2019 relevant health and safety experience in construction, operations, or a similar high-risk environment is required.
