The Role<\/p>\n
\tReporting to the Commercial Manager, the IT Specialist will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the organisation’s IT infrastructure, systems, networks, cybersecurity controls, and end-user environments. The role supports both plant operations and commercial functions, ensuring business continuity, operational uptime, and compliance with automotive industry standards.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
IT Infrastructure & Hardware Management<\/p>\n
\tInstall, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, handheld devices, industrial PCs, and production floor terminals.
\n\tSupport manufacturing and production-line IT equipment.
\n\tManage hardware lifecycle planning, asset registers, and equipment procurement.
\n\tCoordinate with suppliers and service providers regarding IT equipment and services.
\n\tManage company mobile device and cellphone contracts.<\/p>\n
Systems Administration<\/p>\n
\tAdminister Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
\n\tManage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
\n\tSupport ERP, manufacturing, and business-critical systems.
\n\tAdminister Microsoft 365 and cloud-based collaboration platforms.
\n\tPerform system updates, patch management, backups, and disaster recovery activities.
\n\tSupport EDI systems and customer portals where applicable.<\/p>\n
Network & Connectivity Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and multi-site network connectivity.
\n\tConfigure and support switches, routers, firewalls, and network security devices.
\n\tMonitor network performance and proactively resolve connectivity issues.
\n\tEnsure stable connectivity for production systems, remote users, and business operations.<\/p>\n
Cybersecurity & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tSupport cybersecurity initiatives aligned with automotive industry requirements.
\n\tAssist with compliance relating to TISAX, ISO 27001 principles, POPIA, and customer security standards.
\n\tManage endpoint security, antivirus solutions, and access controls.
\n\tParticipate in vulnerability assessments, incident response, and security audits.
\n\tMaintain cybersecurity awareness across the organisation.<\/p>\n
Production & Operational Support<\/p>\n
\tProvide IT support to manufacturing operations to minimise downtime.
\n\tSupport barcode scanners, label printers, traceability systems, and quality data capture solutions.
\n\tAssist with automation, digitalisation, and system integration projects.
\n\tSupport new production line installations and technology implementations.<\/p>\n
End-User Support & Service Delivery<\/p>\n
\tProvide first- and second-line support to users across the business.
\n\tManage onboarding and offboarding processes, including user accounts, devices, and permissions.
\n\tMaintain helpdesk systems and incident tracking.
\n\tDeliver user training and cybersecurity awareness initiatives.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Documentation<\/p>\n
\tMaintain IT policies, procedures, and infrastructure documentation.
\n\tAssist with IT performance reporting and risk management.
\n\tSupport commercial reporting, dashboards, KPI tracking, and database maintenance.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBTech, Bachelor’s Degree, Honours Degree, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
\n\t2\u20135 years’ experience in an IT infrastructure, systems administration, or network support role.
\n\tExperience supporting Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
\n\tStrong understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, switches, routers, and firewalls.
\n\tExperience with hardware support, troubleshooting, and user support.
\n\tExposure to backup and disaster recovery processes.
\n\tExperience within a manufacturing, automotive, logistics, or industrial environment will be advantageous.<\/p>\n
Advantageous Experience<\/p>\n
\tMicrosoft 365 Administration.
\n\tCybersecurity frameworks and standards.
\n\tTISAX, ISO 27001, or related compliance environments.
\n\tERP systems and manufacturing technologies.
\n\tCloud technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
\n\tPower BI, reporting tools, or data analytics platforms.<\/p>\n
