Purpose Statement<\/p>\n
\tTo conduct testing, generate test report and participate in other laboratory activities in support of the attainment of the divisional and business objectives and ensure the maintenance of the laboratory QMS and relevant SANAS and ISO Accreditation requirements.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma \/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 6)
\n\tTechnical signatory status is essential
\n\t3 years\u2019 relevant work experience in Mechanical Engineering field.\u00a0
\n\tWork exposure in specific SANS Fluid Technology and Alternative Energy laboarory is essential.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nFunctional Management<\/p>\n
\tOversee and conduct manual or automated tests and generate results as required.
\n\tReceive and record all samples from clients before testing.
\n\tPlan and prepare to conduct tests.
\n\tAnalyse recorded or generated test results.
\n\tCompile and verify the technical correctness and completeness of the test reports.
\n\tConduct quality verification on all test reports generated in the laboratory.
\n\tInterpret test standards and methods and generate reports.
\n\tDevelop and coordinate testing schedules with the team.
\n\tResearch, develop and validate new testing methods.
\n\tConduct witness testing for internal and external clients to demonstrate and verify testing processes.
\n\tConduct proficiency testing for industry benchmark purposes as and when required.
\n\tPrepare and apply calibration and maintenance procedures and ensure that all equipment is calibrated and maintained.
\n\tConduct root cause analysis within laboratory and ensure the effective implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
\n\tApply appropriate maintenance and basic trouble shooting requirements.
\n\tCalibrate and verify test equipment.
\n\tEnsure all Laboratory assets are accounted for in area of control and participate in asset verification.
\n\tEnsure that commissioning reports of equipment are compiled and asset registration and capitalization is done timeously as per SABS policies.
\n\tProcess samples and participate in proficiency schemes (including intra and inter Laboratory comparisons).
\n\tParticipate in in-house test validations as required to confirm the results.
\n\tConduct all activities assigned to maintain the Quality Management System and Accreditation and participate in the maintenance of the quality management system in accordance with the Quality Manual and the laboratory\u2019s accreditation to the relevant technical standards.
\n\tPrepare for internal audits and maintain alignment to audit processes.
\n\tProvide advocacy and assist with technical specifications and requirements to generate quotations.
\n\tAnalyse customer requirements and check alignment with technical(testing) specifications
\n\tProvide customer advice on interpretation and application of technical(testing) specifications
\n\tConduct training on equipment used for testing to stakeholders as and when its required.
\n\tDocument and alert Standard Writers on identified errors in the specifications or Standard documents.
\n\tConduct training and coaching sessions for other Test Officers and mentor them (Test Officers) who are in the process of acquiring Technical Signatory status.
\n\tMaintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety principles and procedures.
\n\tKeep abreast of all the changes in Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
\n\tKeep abreast with developments in the technical committees, working groups and industry trends.
\n\tComplete the Competence Development Ladder (CDP) for the next level.<\/p>\n
Risk and Compliance Management<\/p>\n
\tAssist in identifying and adhering to fraud controls, risk prevention principles, sound governance and compliance processes, and tools to identify and manage risks.
\n\tAssist in the preparation and support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit requirements.
\n\tMaintain quality risk management standards in line with legislative and accreditation requirements.
\n\tAdhere to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tBuild and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organization\u2019s reputation.
\n\tRepresent and participate in the organization\u2019s committees and tasks teams when required.
\n\tConvene and attend meetings (e.g., technical committees, working groups etc.) and present relevant information stakeholders when required.
\n\tEnsure the provision of excellent customer service.
\n\tResolve queries and problems within span of control and within agreed time frames.
\n\tFollow up on unresolved queries and complaints where required.
\n\tLiaise with relevant stakeholders regarding follow-up of information, as required<\/p>\n
