\tThe Business Banking Sector Head Professional Services Portfolio is accountable for defining and driving sector\u2011led growth strategies across priority sectors within the Business Bank. is accountable for the end\u2011to\u2011end enterprise ownership of the Pan\u2011African Business Banking portfolio management capability.
\n\tThe role sets strategy, governance, standards, and portfolio\u2011wide outcomes across all Pan\u2011African markets, ensuring balance\u2011sheet optimisation, disciplined growth, and risk\u2011aligned value creation.
\n\tActing as the enterprise sector authority for Business Banking, the role shapes the business banking sector strategy, credit and risk positioning, product direction, and go\u2011to\u2011market execution, working collaboratively across Coverage, Risk, Credit, Product, Treasury, and Country teams to ensure consistent, disciplined delivery while accommodating local market realities.<\/p>\n

Sector Strategy and Portfolio Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDefine the Business Banking sector strategies aligned to the bank\u2019s growth, risk and return objectives.
\n\tTranslate group and Business Bank strategy into sector\u2011specific growth, penetration and profitability plans.
\n\tIdentify priority sub\u2011segments, client archetypes and growth opportunities within the Professional Services sector.
\n\tEnsure consistent strategy adoption across countries while allowing for market\u2011specific adaptations.
\n\tEnsure alignment with Group balance\u2011sheet, capital and risk appetite<\/p>\n
Portfolio Performance and Financial Outcomes<\/p>\n
\tDevelop the industry and\/or sector\u2011level portfolio performance, including lending growth, revenue, margins and returns.
\n\tDrive optimisation of risk\u2011adjusted returns (RORC) across sector portfolios.
\n\tMonitor portfolio health, concentration and early\u2011warning indicators; initiate corrective actions where required.
\n\tBalance growth ambition with disciplined portfolio management and loss mitigation.
\n\tOwn portfolio\u2011level outcomes across all markets
\n\tSense\u2011check country and segment exposures holistically
\n\tAct as final escalation point on portfolio\u2011level trade\u2011offs<\/p>\n
Risk, Credit and Governance<\/p>\n
\tPartner with Risk and Credit to define sector risk appetite, underwriting standards and Credit policies.
\n\tEnsure sector strategies align with approved risk limits, regulatory expectations and internal governance frameworks.
\n\tProvide sector insight into portfolio reviews, credit forums and risk committees.
\n\tProactively identify emerging sector risks and structural changes impacting portfolio performance.<\/p>\n
Go\u2011to\u2011Market Execution<\/p>\n
\tWork closely with Coverage and Relationship teams to embed sector strategies into frontline execution.
\n\tDrive sector\u2011specific value propositions, client engagement models, and pipeline discipline.
\n\tEnable consistent application of best practices, tools and playbooks across countries and teams.
\n\tTrack execution effectiveness and intervene where delivery gaps exist.
\n\tIdentify and develop ecosystem and partnership opportunities that enhance sector positioning and client value.<\/p>\n
Product, Treasury and Proposition Alignment<\/p>\n
\tInfluence product and solution design to ensure sector relevance and commercial differentiation.
\n\tCollaborate with Treasury on pricing, balance\u2011sheet optimisation and funding impacts at sector level.
\n\tEnsure Business Banking sector propositions remain competitive, scalable and commercially viable.<\/p>\n
Thought Leadership and Market Insight and Sector Expertise Enablement<\/p>\n
\tAct as the Business Bank\u2019s internal sector authority, providing insight on market trends, regulatory developments and competitive dynamics.
\n\tDevelop sector thought leadership to support frontline teams and inform strategic decisions.
\n\tBuild deep insight into sector dynamics, value chains, regulatory developments and macro economic trends across Africa.
\n\tSupport marketing and client engagement initiatives through credible sector insights (non\u2011transactional).<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
Build strong working relationships with:<\/p>\n

\n\tRisk, Credit, Product and Treasury teams
\n\tEnsure sector strategies and initiatives comply with governance, conduct and regulatory requirements across markets.
\n\tRepresent the sector agenda in executive forums, resolving cross\u2011functional issues and influencing enterprise priorities<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field. Postgraduate qualification is strongly preferred. 10\u201315+ years\u2019 experience in banking or financial services.
\n\tProven track record leading sector strategies and portfolios across multiple geographies. Strong experience in origination, structuring and management of complex credit and transactional solutions.
\n\tDemonstrated ability to drive portfolio optimisation and risk\u2011adjusted returns. Experience in pan\u2011African or multi\u2011country environments is strongly preferred.<\/p>\n

\tMaster’s Degree: Finance, Postgraduate Degrees and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies<\/p>\n
