Desired experience and qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tBPharm or equivalent degree in Pharmacy
\n\tCurrent registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist
\n\tMinimum of 2\u20133 years\u2019 experience working as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or industrial pharmacy setting.
\n\tExperience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
\n\tLegal & Regulatory Knowledge
\n\tSound knowledge of South African pharmacy laws and regulations, including:
\n\tMedicines and Related Substances Act
\n\tPharmacy Act
\n\tGood Pharmacy Practice (GPP) guidelines
\n\tUnderstanding of controlled medicines (Schedules 4\u20136) compliance requirements<\/p>\n
Key Duties and responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n
\tAccept overall legal responsibility and accountability for the operation of the pharmacy
\n\tImplement, maintain, and monitor Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards
\n\tSupervise and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacist assistants, and support staff
\n\tEnsure the safe procurement, storage, handling, and distribution of medicines
\n\tMaintain effective stock control systems, including monitoring expiry dates and preventing stock losses
\n\tEnsure secure handling of scheduled medicines (e.g. Schedule 5 and 6) in accordance with legal requirements
\n\tMaintain accurate and complete records and documentation as required by law
\n\tOversee the dispensing process to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance
\n\tEnsure the pharmacy operates within its registered scope of practice
\n\tDevelop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
\n\tEnsure training and competency of all pharmacy personnel
\n\tBe physically present at the pharmacy for the required minimum time as per regulations
