JOB DESCRIPTION<\/p>\n
\tVAS-X is looking to recruit a Graduate Developer to service our telecommunications clients.
\n\tYou will be required to work across a broad range of development activities and across several disciplines, focused on front- end web applications, backend database applications and REST\u00a0web services. From day to day, you will be involved in design and development of new features\u00a0
\n\tfor the web applications, testing and execution of bug fixes, or investigation into prospective\u00a0 changes and how they might be integrated into the user interfaces alongside our existing applications.<\/p>\n
Duties will also include development and maintenance of new and existing web applications,\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tcreation of technical documentation and dealing with technical support requests. This role would\u00a0suit a recent graduate with knowledge in Java\/SQL and an understanding of current web technologies,\u00a0and who may also have an interest in learning Go. We are offering on the job training as well as\u00a0the opportunity to attend training courses where appropriate.

ABOUT YOU<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12
\n\tStandard literacy \u2013 English: read, write and speak
\n\tIT Degree or Diploma
\n\tJava
\n\tIn-depth Java knowledge, including J2EE, Spring, CAMEL and associated technologies
\n\tExperience and knowledge in CSS and HTML
\n\tWorking knowledge of operating systems, including Linux
\n\tIn-depth knowledge of SQL and industry-standard databases
\n\tUnderstanding and working knowledge of J2EE containers and web servers
\n\tA thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
\n\tExperience in Scrum\/Agile methodologies
\n\tLives in Cape Town
\n\tRSA Citizenship\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:<\/p>\n
\tAssist with the development and maintenance of service platform components including:
\n\tWeb applications and related RESTful web APIs
\n\tAuthentication components
\n\tDatabase applications
\n\tJava based applications.
\n\tWorking on the deployment, installation and configuration of software releases.
\n\tAssist in the management of cloud-based infrastructure assets.
\n\tContribute to maintaining the VXVIEW , ERA, SOA and XTREME platforms to ensure service availability in line with service level agreements (SLA)
\n\tAssist with translating user requirements into technical specifications, test cases and subsequently into program code.
\n\tParticipate in quality reviews and undertake testing as needed or directed.
\n\tCreation of technical documentation for both internal and external consumption.
\n\tContribution towards technical decision making.
\n\tProvide assistance with technical support requests.
\n\tProvide reports or briefs to senior application developer and project manager on progress and other aspects of development work.
\n\tAttend conferences and workshops as required.
\n\tFacilitate UAT sessions with the customer.
\n\tParticipate in cross-service activities and projects as required.
\n\tUndertake other duties commensurate with the post as they arise<\/p>\n
