Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tPerform microbial and molecular analyses, including microbial culture, PCR, sequencing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST).
\n\tAdherence to protocol, SOPs and timelines
\n\tReceiving and logging of samples onto LIMS (Laboratory information management systems)
\n\tQuality control of documentation and processes within the laboratory
\n\tIsolation of DNA and RNA from wastewater and similar environmental samples
\n\tDNA and RNA quality control
\n\tAssist with supply chain management as per project requirement so that laboratory stock is maintained
\n\tManagement of assets and ensuring laboratory equipment is well maintained
\n\tFiling of documents as per operating procedures including keeping detailed and accurate laboratory records
\n\tPrepare progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
\n\tParticipate in project meetings, workshops, and conferences to present research findings.<\/p>\n
Core Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tRelevant 3- year tertiary qualification in Environmental Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or similar qualification or higher
\n\t1 -2 years\u2019 knowledge\/experience in Environmental Microbiology or related field
\n\t1 -2 years\u2019 knowledge\/experience with basic molecular biology techniques e.g., RNA, DNA isolation, bacterial culturing, PCR and gel electrophoresis
\n\t1 year experience with environmental sampling
\n\tKnowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
\n\tMaintaining experimental records (lab book) and working with protocols and SOP\u2019s
\n\tUnderstanding of quality control within a laboratory
\n\tCode 08 valid drivers license (manual)<\/p>\n
Advantageous:<\/p>\n
\tBSc (Hons) in Environmental Microbiology or related field
\n\tEnvironmental sampling, particularly wastewater
\n\tKnowledge\/experience with sample management
\n\tDNA and RNA quality control experience<\/p>\n
