YouLead is a joint initiative of MS-Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) and the East African Community Secretariat. It is a leadership program designed to unlock youth leadership potential for a prosperous Africa by identifying, recognizing, connecting, and fostering cooperation among the continent\u2019s vibrant and influential young leaders and their initiatives.
\nSince its inception in 2017, YouLead has evolved into a full-fledged program under MS TCDC, requiring a more structured and sustainable approach, which includes a full-time Secretariat based at MS TCDC under the\u00a0Leadership and Governance Academy (LGA).<\/p>\n
JOB OVERVIEW
\nTo strengthen YouLead\u2019s foundation, MS TCDC is seeking a\u00a0YouLead Project Manager\u00a0to drive the program\u2019s sustainability and impact. The role involves\u00a0strategic planning, program execution, team leadership, and resource mobilisation.\u00a0The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader in youth development, program management, and stakeholder engagement.<\/p>\n
We are looking for a proactive, visionary leader with a strong commitment to\u00a0youth empowerment, advocacy, and governance.
\nLocation: MS TCDC, Arusha, Tanzania<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n1. Management of YouLead Africa Program<\/p>\n
Managing YouLead Africa\u2019s initiatives and Secretariat operations.
\nServe as the primary focal point for YouLead at MS-TCDC, including budget coordination, performance and tracking.
\nAct as the key liaison for the Head of LGA regarding approvals, reports, team performance, program successes, and challenges.
\nLead strategic planning efforts to align YouLead\u2019s activities with its mission and vision.
\nStrengthen YouLead\u2019s governance structures and operational frameworks to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
\nBuilding partnerships with regional and international stakeholders.<\/p>\n
2. Implementation of YouLead Africa Projects<\/p>\n
Guide and oversee the YouLead Secretariat in implementing key projects, including SPA II activities, the Lead(H)er Fellowship, and the EAC Youth Fellowship.
\nEnsure effective coordination and timely execution of project activities to achieve program goals.
\nWork with internal and external stakeholders to align project implementation with strategic priorities.
\nMonitor and evaluate program impact, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.
\nFacilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and networking opportunities for young leaders and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
3. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization<\/p>\n
Lead YouLead\u2019s fundraising strategy under the Head of LGA\u2019s leadership by mapping fundraising opportunities and acquiring partnerships.
\nOversee the development of fundraising proposals and donor engagement efforts.
\nCultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure long-term program sustainability.
\nDevelop and implement innovative strategies to attract funding and expand YouLead\u2019s financial resources.
\nEnsure compliance with donor regulations and reporting requirements.<\/p>\n
4. Leadership of YouLead Summit 2025<\/p>\n
Plan and oversee the successful delivery of YouLead Summit 2025.
\nEngage with the office of the YouLead Patron and other relevant partners.
\nStrengthen collaboration with the EAC Secretariat.
\nEnsure effective branding, visibility, and impact assessment of the summit.
\nDesign and implement innovative engagement strategies to enhance youth participation in the summit.<\/p>\n
5. Administrative and Program Support<\/p>\n
Support the Head of LGA with ad-hoc tasks as relevant to the unit.
\nProvide strategic insights and recommendations to improve YouLead\u2019s effectiveness.
\nEnsure documentation and reporting of key program activities and milestones.
\nRepresent YouLead at regional and international forums to promote its mission and programs.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS
\nEDUCATION<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in International Development, Political Science, Public Administration, Leadership, Project Management, or a related field.
\nOther Bachelor degree with extensive experience in program management and leadership may be considered.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
3 \u2013 5 years of experience in program management, youth development, governance, or advocacy.
\nProven leadership in multi-stakeholder regional or continental programs.
\nExpertise in strategic planning, execution, and M&E.
\nStrong record in resource mobilization and partnership-building.
\nExperience leading diverse teams in multicultural settings.
\nFluency in English is required. Fluency in French and any other AU official languages will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n
