\nPosition Overview
\nFema Mining and Drilling Limited seeks an experienced\u00a0Drilling and Blasting Supervisor to oversee all drilling and blasting operations at our Katoro-Geita site. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant rock fragmentation to support our mining objectives.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Operational Excellence<\/p>\n
Plan, supervise, and execute\u00a0drilling and blasting activities\u00a0in alignment with project specifications.
\nEnsure accurate blast hole drilling (depth, spacing, alignment) using modern drilling equipment.
\nOversee explosive loading, initiation systems, and blast execution to optimize fragmentation and minimize environmental impact.<\/p>\n
Safety & Regulatory Compliance<\/p>\n
Enforce strict compliance with\u00a0Tanzanian mining laws, including the\u00a0Explosives Act\u00a0and\u00a0OSHA Tanzania\u00a0safety standards.
\nConduct pre-blast risk assessments, secure blast permits, and implement safety zones.
\nTrain teams on safe handling\/storage of explosives (ANFO, emulsions, detonators).<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
Supervise drilling\/blasting crews and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to SOPs.
\nProvide hands-on training for new personnel on equipment (e.g., rotary drills, DTH rigs) and blast design.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Documentation<\/p>\n
Maintain detailed records of blast designs, explosive usage, and post-blast evaluations.
\nSubmit daily\/weekly reports to the\u00a0Project Supervisor\u00a0on progress, challenges, and corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Equipment & Inventory<\/p>\n
Monitor maintenance of drilling rigs and blast initiation tools.
\nManage explosive inventory and coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications & Competencies<\/p>\n
Certifications:<\/p>\n
Valid Tanzanian\u00a0Blasting License\u00a0(issued by Explosives Regulatory Authority).
\nOSHA or equivalent safety certification.
\nMust be a driller of variety drilling rigs ( DP 1100, Epiroc range, DP1100i e.t.c)
\nMust have worked as a drilling supervisor at least\u00a0 one year
\nDriller trainer previous experience will be added advantage<\/p>\n
Experience: Minimum\u00a05 years\u00a0in drilling\/blasting, preferably in gold mining (open-pit or underground).
\nTechnical Skills:<\/p>\n
Proficiency in blast design software (e.g., ShotPlus).
\nFamiliarity with GPS-guided drilling systems.<\/p>\n
Language: Fluency in\u00a0English\u00a0and\u00a0Swahili.<\/p>\n
Working Conditions<\/p>\n
Rostered shifts\u00a0(may include nights\/weekends).
\nSite-based\u00a0at Katoro-Geita with exposure to dust, noise, and outdoor weather.<\/p>\n
Performance Metrics<\/p>\n
Safety: Zero reportable incidents.
\nEfficiency: 95% adherence to blast design outcomes.
\nCost Control: Minimize explosive waste and equipment downtime.<\/p>\n
