\nResponsibility:
\nDuties and Responsibilities are to<\/p>\n
Develop and implement network systems based on the KCMC Universitys needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
\nSet up and configure networking devices like routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
\nEnsure that routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices are properly configured to allow for optimal performance and security.
\nRegularly update and maintain network equipment and software, including operating system patches and firmware updates.
\nUse monitoring tools to track network performance, detect bottlenecks, and ensure uptime and efficiency.
\nDiagnose and resolve network-related problems like slow connections, dropped packets, or connectivity failures.
\nQuickly respond to and resolve network outages or service disruptions.
\nIdentify the underlying causes of recurring network issues to prevent future disruptions.
\nConfigure firewalls, VPNs, and other security systems to protect the network from unauthorized access and cyberattacks.
\nRegularly check for vulnerabilities or security breaches within the network and take necessary action to mitigate risks.
\nEnsure that sensitive data transmitted across the network is encrypted and protected against leaks or unauthorized access.
\nEnsure the network complies with university standards, legal requirements, and internal policies, and document this compliance.
\nOffer network-related support to employees, students and other clients, helping with connection issues, access problems, or network configuration questions.<\/p>\n

Technical SkillsNetworking Protocols & Standards
\nProficiency in key networking protocols such as TCP\/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and SNMP.
\nIn-depth understanding of OSI Model and IP Addressing (IPv4\/IPv6).
\nNetwork Infrastructure design, deployment and Management
\nHands-on experience with networking devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
\nExpertise in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN (Local Area Networks), WAN (Wide Area Networks), VLANs (Virtual LANs), and VPNs (Virtual Private Networks).
\nKnowledge of network cabling, including fiber optics, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi.
\nNetwork Security
\nStrong understanding of network security best practices, including the use of firewalls, IDS\/IPS (Intrusion Detection\/Prevention Systems), and VPNs for secure remote access.
\nExperience with network segmentation, access control lists (ACLs), and NAT (Network Address Translation).
\nFamiliarity with security protocols such as SSL\/TLS, IPsec, and SSH.
\nRouting and Switching
\nExpertise in configuring and managing dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol).
\nHands-on experience with Layer 2\/3 switches, VLAN configuration, inter-VLAN routing, and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
\nWireless Networking
\nProficiency in setting up and managing Wi-Fi networks, including Wi-Fi standards (802.11a\/b\/g\/n\/ac\/ax), SSID, and wireless security (WPA2, WPA3).
\nNetwork Monitoring and Troubleshooting
\nProficiency in using network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Meraki).
\nExperience in troubleshooting network issues using diagnostic tools.
\nSoft Skills and Abilities
\nStrong understanding of computer network infrastructure.
\nKnowledge of application, transport and network infrastructure protocols
\nAbility to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.
\nAbility to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
\nAbility to quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in a timely manner.
\nPrecision in configuring and maintaining network settings to ensure optimal performance.
\nAbility to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
\nAbility to collaborate with other IT teams, including security and server administrators, to resolve issues and improve network performance.
\nFamiliarity with SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Networks) technology for network optimization, particularly for distributed offices and remote work scenarios.
\nHands-on experience with managing networks in a data center environment, including fiber optic cabling and high-availability configurations.
\nAbility to design scalable, reliable, and secure network architectures for organizations.<\/p>\n

\nEducational Qualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science
\nBachelor of Science degree in Information and Communication Technology
\nBachelor of Science degree in Network Administration
\nOther related Bacheloer in computer studies from a recognised higher learning institution<\/p>\n
Experience :
\nAt least two (02) years of experience in network administration in an academic or enterprise environment, specifically<\/p>\n
Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting networking devices and services.
\nExperience with local area network and wide area network administration
\nFamiliarity with network automation tools such as Ansible, Python scripting, or Chef for automating network configuration and management tasks.<\/p>\n
