\nPosition:\u00a0Risk Manager\u00a0
\nReporting to: Head of Risk and Compliance
\nJob Purpose\u00a0
\nAs part of VFT MFB\u2019s Middle Management, the Risk Manager ensures strategic goals are achieved within the approved risk appetite by overseeing credit, operational, market, liquidity, compliance, ESG, and climate-related risks, in line with regulatory expectations. The role promotes a strong risk culture and protects the institution\u2019s sustainability and reputation.
\nMain tasks<\/p>\n
Assist in conducting regular risk assessments across business units and identifying emerging risks.
\nMonitor internal and external risk indicators and escalate material risk exposures.
\nAnalyze and interpret reports from accounting, loan tracking, and other MIS to identify potential credit and financial risks, reporting findings to VFT management.
\nCoordinate and deliver risk-related staff training, building risk management capability across departments (credit, market, operational, and financial risks).
\nCommunicate and implement the Risk Management Framework to ensure staff are risk-aware and aligned with institutional expectations.
\nActively participate in regional and global Risk and Compliance forums set up by VFI to share best practices across MFIs.
\nIdentify, assess, and monitor compliance risks related to current and proposed business activities, including new products, systems, relationships, and operational expansions.
\nConduct and oversee periodic internal credit risk reviews to help management understand the causes of elevated credit risk.
\nCollaborate with the Head of Risk and Compliance to update the stress testing model, and conduct quarterly stress testing and reporting
\nSupport the annual preparation of ILAAP and ICAAP reports in coordination with the Head of Risk and Compliance.
\nTrack, monitor, and report monthly on the organization\u2019s Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
\nAssess the adequacy of internal policies and procedures; follow up on deficiencies, recommend improvements, and supervise corrective actions.
\nProduce accurate and timely monthly risk reports for MRCC meetings and other stakeholders.
\nPrepare and update the MFI\u2019s Top Ten Risks list every month.
\nPrepare the Monthly Credit Risk Analysis Report.<\/p>\n
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:<\/p>\n
University degree in a relevant subject (e.g. economics, business)
\nStrong accounting\/finance education and knowledge of loan and capital markets products
\nAbility to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
\nQuantitative orientation and a good eye for detail, with strong analytical skills
\nAbility to manage dynamic priorities and work well under pressure
\nAbility to write, present, and train others on risk-related materials
\nA team player with the ability to build relationships across different departments and branches, and to influence positive change in working practices
\nProactive, goal-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision
\nCommitment to the core values and mission of Vision Fund Tanzania MFB
\nAbility to learn how to use new systems
\nAbility to inspire and empower employees to use new systems and propose process improvements
\nStrong working knowledge of MS Office and Loan Tracking Systems<\/p>\n
Required experience:<\/p>\n
At least 4 years of experience in risk management in a bank or microfinance institution
\nAt least 2 years of experience in risk analysis or compliance, or internal audit
\nWork experience of at least 2 years in staff supervision, including managing a team
\nStrong experience in credit analysis, credit collateral, and the approval of loans
\nProven ability to assess, monitor, report, and address risks
\nStrong experience in risk analysis, monitoring, and reporting<\/p>\n
