\nThe Database Administrator Specialist role is responsible for the timely delivery, support, and implementation of complex enterprise Database systems as part of Bank\u2019s strategy. The Candidate through effective communication with stakeholders and ability to support, direct towards successful delivery of Business Goals; will work hand in hand with Business teams to support key strategic priorities which includes but not limited:
\n\u2022Support all Existing and Future Projects for all environments (Production, Disaster Recovery, UAT & SIT) Database Infrastructure needs (Oracle, SQL, PostGRE, MySQL Databases)
\n\u2022Core Banking Database Upgrades
\n\u2022Support Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PostGreSQL and MySQL Databases
\n\u2022All Databases Data Migrations, Validations and Quality Projects & Requirements
\n\u2022Support Technology transformation through team Capacity building
\n\u2022Business Products, Audit and Processes enhancements

\nDatabase Operations and Application Support 75%<\/p>\n
Work hand in hand with our Technology Application Support, Business and Management teams in daily execution of BAU and Strategic support activities\/requirements for enhanced delivery.
\nSupport the scoped key Projects and engagements timely delivery seamlessly to ensure Business value and Bank objectives are met.
\nSupport ongoing Projects and further streamline Business processes and Products to ensure best practices at enhanced competitiveness.
\nProvide progressive Weekly\/Monthly assessments and recommendation reports on the Databases performance, Infrastructure requirements and enhancements.
\nBe actively involved in enhancing Business Products intelligence strategy, Best practices with Product Setups, charges, enhanced Business processes etc. to ensure income leakages and unaccounted losses\/income are realized and mitigation effectiveness continually improved.
\nPerform assessments for Core Banking System upgrades and lay the foundations for a seamless transitions upgrade; in readiness to fully support the Core Banking system upgrade end to end.
\nSupport End of Day, End of Month and End of Year Batch runs; handling all issues\/incidents arising.
\nCollaborates on the initial hardware requirements, installation and configuration of a new\/upgrade existing Oracle, SQL, and Postgres Server etc.
\nEfficiently importing large volumes of data that have been extracted from multiple systems into a data warehouse environment.
\nCreate backup and recovery plans and procedures based on industry best practices, then make sure that the necessary steps are followed (develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans).
\nEstablish the needs of users and monitor user access and security.
\nMonitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end Applications performance tune database queries.
\nInstall and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS).
\nCreation of databases and manage schema objects (tables, indexes, views etc.).
\nControl migration and changes of all schema objects.
\nProactively monitoring the database\u2019s health and taking preventive or corrective action as required
\nMonitor application related jobs and data replication activities.
\nMaintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Policies.
\nWrite database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
\nControl access permissions and privileges.
\nEnsure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly upholding proactive carry out capacity planning.
\nWork closely with project managers, Vendors, and other stakeholders in addressing issues\/incidents\/problems for prompt issues resolutions.
\nPerform general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams.
\nWriting disaster recovery plans to uphold DR recovery and resilience tests engagements for Business Continuity assessments etc.
\nWork as part of a team and provide 24\u00d77 support when required.<\/p>\n

Education and Experience Required:<\/p>\n
BSc. In Computer Science, Engineering or related field with informatics as core.
\nEvidence Proficient expertise with supporting Oracle Flexcube Core Banking Database at 99.9% availability
\nOracle, SQL, PostGRE, MySQL Databases Certified.
\nKnowledge of banking\/branch operations.
\nGood understanding of ITIL processes and associated concepts.
\nHigh degree of commercial awareness with sound understanding of key contractual obligations and risks to maximize benefits.
\nStrong customer liaison and relationship management skills.
\nExcellent communication and presentation experience.
\nMust be able to work under pressure, take clear ownership of issues and projects and drive to ensure a successful closure for the customer, peers and IT Production.
\nFinancial management \u2013 budget preparation and managing to budget.
\nExperience of financial services preferred.
\nAt least 5 years in IT Database Infrastructure and operations role.<\/p>\n
Knowledge, Skills and competences required: \u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowledge on the trending banking software and technologies in the market.
\nExcellent written and oral communication
\nAggressive Problem-solving skills and follow through; Pragmatic and thorough
\nFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies.
\nExperience with varieties of databases and object-relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.
\nMust be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
