\nThe role
\nKey outputsGuided by prevailing rules and regulatory requirements, to carry out the following responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Provide legal advice and support on various matters related to legal and statutory requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements to protect the bank\u2019s interests and mitigate legal\u00a0risks.<\/p>\n
Represent the bank in legal proceedings, including court cases, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution mechanisms.<\/p>\n
Monitor and ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, advising management on compliance matters.<\/p>\n
Assist in the development and implementation of corporate governance policies and practices, ensuring alignment with legal standards.<\/p>\n
Maintain and manage legal documents, records, and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.<\/p>\n
Conduct training sessions for staff members on legal and compliance matters to promote awareness and understanding.<\/p>\n
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by superior from time to time.<\/p>\n
The candidate
\nQualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree from a recognized university.<\/p>\n
Must be a registered advocate and a member of the Tanganyika Law Society or equivalent legal body.<\/p>\n
Minimum of two (2) years of legal experience, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.<\/p>\n
Strong understanding of banking laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.<\/p>\n
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.<\/p>\n
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.<\/p>\n
Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.<\/p>\n
