Tanzania Empowerment Forum (TEF Consult) is recruiting a\u00a0Refurbishment & E-Waste Coordinator\u00a0to support d.light (TZ) Limited in delivering high-quality aftersales services. This role is key to improving product lifecycle, reducing environmental impact, and supporting d.light\u2019s mission of transforming lives through sustainable energy solutions.
\nThe ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing faulty units from returns and repossessions. In addition, they will lead\u00a0e-waste management initiatives\u00a0, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and promoting sustainability.
\nThis position plays a vital role in:<\/p>\n
Reducing repair turnaround time
\nIncreasing spare parts reuse and recycling
\nSupporting field technicians with technical guidance
\nManaging data and reporting for performance tracking<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0Repair and Refurbishment<\/p>\n
Diagnose and repair faulty products including PCBAs, batteries, bulbs, and tube lights
\nHarvest reusable components (batteries, PCBs, lights, etc.) for use in repairs and field support
\nAssemble refurbished systems from repossessed units for resale at discounted rates
\nConduct testing and quality assurance to ensure all refurbished units meet company standards<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0Process Management<\/p>\n
Ensure proper usage of tools, equipment, and inventory in the repair room
\nCollaborate with the QC team to identify and resolve recurring quality issues
\nCoordinate with the Warehouse team to maintain adequate spare part availability<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0Reporting & Documentation<\/p>\n
Prepare and submit\u00a0weekly and monthly reports\u00a0on repair activities, harvested parts, and refurbishment outputs
\nMaintain accurate records of inventory usage and system inputs
\nDocument and escalate product quality issues to relevant stakeholders<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0Training & Field Support<\/p>\n
Conduct\u00a0field visits\u00a0to train and mentor local technicians on repair and refurbishment techniques
\nProvide technical support to improve technician performance and service delivery<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0E-Waste Management<\/p>\n
Design and implement an\u00a0e-waste collection, segregation, and recycling program
\nPartner with certified recyclers to ensure legal and environmentally-friendly disposal
\nTrack and report on e-waste volumes and recycling outcomes
\nLead awareness campaigns to educate customers on proper e-waste handling
\nExplore innovative ways to\u00a0reuse or upcycle defective components<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0Additional Duties<\/p>\n
Ensure all replaced or swapped units are returned for refurbishment or parts harvesting
\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
\nFollow all safety guidelines and use tools appropriately<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Requirements<\/p>\n
Education:<\/p>\n
Diploma in\u00a0Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering\u00a0, or a related technical field
\nAdvanced Electronics Repair Certification (an added advantage)<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
1\u20133 years of experience in\u00a0repair and refurbishment operations\u00a0, preferably in solar, electronics, or aftersales industries
\nProven experience in diagnosing and repairing\u00a0PCBAs, batteries, and electronic components
\nFamiliarity with electronic diagnostic tools and software<\/p>\n
Skills:<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of\u00a0electronic systems and repair processes
\nExcellent organizational and time management skills
\nAbility to train and guide field technicians
\nAnalytical mindset for identifying trends and process improvements
\nPassion for\u00a0sustainability and environmental protection
\nProficiency in working independently and managing multiple tasks efficiently<\/p>\n

Workshop-based with occasional\u00a0field visits\u00a0for training and support
\nRequires adherence to\u00a0workplace safety standards\u00a0and proper tool usage

\nSystem utilization and correct data input
