\nThe Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for the following position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania:
\nPosition: Student Counsellor
\nWe are seeking a Student Counsellor to provide effective counselling services to graduate, undergraduate, and post-medical trainees and develop programs and resources for psychological well-being.
\nResponsibilities<\/p>\n
Deliver effective individual and group counseling\/therapy sessions.
\nAchieve therapeutic goals with undergraduate, graduate, and PGME students.
\nProvide accurate case formulation and diagnosis when applicable.
\nMaintain comprehensive and confidential case records.
\nEnsure adherence to ethical standards in record-keeping and client privacy.
\nContribute to campus-wide mental health awareness and well-being initiatives.
\nDevelop and execute proactive programs targeting resilience and coping strategies.
\nDesign and facilitate workshops\/training on emotional regulation, stress management, etc.
\nSupport student development through skill-building and psychoeducation.
\nCreate relevant self-help content to promote psychological well-being.
\nResearch emerging trends and needs for updated support material.
\nProvide timely crisis support following established protocols.
\nManage high-risk situations with competence and care.
\nCoordinate care through appropriate referrals to internal\/external stakeholders.
\nCollaborate with university departments for integrated student support.
\nIdentify systemic or environmental stressors impacting student well-being.
\nCommunicate insights and recommendations to relevant authorities while maintaining client confidentiality.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience<\/p>\n
Advanced degree in Psychology and any other related fields, preferably with a Clinical\/Counselling specialization.
\nMinimum 3 years of counselling\/psychotherapy training and 2 years of practical experience with adolescents and adults in clinical\/educational settings, including psychoeducational work.
\nExpertise in counselling\/psychotherapy theories, techniques, and conducting\/reporting on psychological assessments.
\nFluent in spoken English (including public speaking) and excellent written English for content development.
\nProficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.<\/p>\n
