\nWho are we?
\nMaternity Africa is a Christian-based not-for-profit organization providing fistula treatment and quality maternity care for all marginalized women throughout Tanzania. We do this through clinical excellence and in the example of displaying love, kindness and compassion regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. Maternity Africa operates from its base at Kivulini Maternity Centre outside the city of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.
\nAbout the role.
\nThe Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving a variety of meals for patients, staff, and visitors according to established recipes and dietary guidelines. This includes ensuring food quality, safety, and sanitation standards are met at all times.
\nThe best suitable candidate for this role must be comfortable to work in shifts, prepare and serve patients meals according to their special dietary needs, attend to patients and staff with respect, kindness, compassion and love. Job type\u00a0Full-time\u00a0Job
\nRole Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, soft foods).
\nEnsure food is cooked and served at the appropriate temperature and within designated timeframes.
\nMaintain a clean and organized work area, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
\nFollow all food safety and handling procedures, including proper storage and labelling of food items.
\nAssist with inventory control and ordering of food supplies.
\nMay assist with special dietary needs, such as preparing meals for patients with allergies or food intolerances.
\nEnsure safety measures, practices and safe working environment are proactively maintained at all times.<\/p>\n

\nQualifications and certifications, Experience and Skills required.<\/p>\n
A Secondary School Certificate.
\nA certificate in food preparation and handling or relevant training in food production.
\n3 minimum years of experience as a cook in a professional kitchen environment preferably schools, hospitals or kitchens that prepared food for more than 100 people in one cooking.
\nAbility to prepare Tanzanian African meals.
\nKnowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
\nAbility to read and follow recipes and instructions.
\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.
\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.
\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
\nAbility to lift and carry heavy objects.
\nAbility to stand for extended periods of time.<\/p>\n
