\nJob Title:\u00a0Irrigation Systems Expert \u2013 Sunflower
\nReporting to: Farm Manager \/ Senior Agronomist

\nDescription:
\nThe Irrigation Systems Expert will be responsible for the full planning, setup, operation, and maintenance of sprinkler irrigation systems across large-scale sunflower farms (500\u20132000+ acres). This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and sustainable use of water resources for optimal sunflower crop health and yield.
\nThe expert must have deep hands-on knowledge of sprinkler irrigation, including water sourcing, system layout, and equipment selection (pipes, engines, pumps, and fittings). The role includes the ability to identify and develop water sources (wells, ponds), design effective water distribution networks, and manage ongoing irrigation operations.
\nKey Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Design and implement efficient sprinkler irrigation systems tailored for sunflower farming across large acreage.
\nIdentify and assess suitable water sources including wells, ponds, or other reservoirs.
\nOversee the construction and setup of irrigation ponds, pump stations, and pipelines.
\nSelect and procure appropriate equipment including pipes, engines, sprinkler heads, valves, and pumps.
\nWork with suppliers to source cost-effective, high-quality irrigation materials.
\nSupervise the installation, daily operation, and maintenance of the irrigation system.
\nMonitor water usage, soil moisture levels, and system performance to optimize irrigation schedules.
\nTrain and supervise irrigation teams and ensure proper handling of equipment.
\nCoordinate with agronomists and farm managers to align irrigation timing with the sunflower crop growth stages.
\nPrepare cost estimates and budgets for irrigation-related projects and infrastructure.
\nTroubleshoot technical issues and perform repairs or adjustments to ensure continuous irrigation performance.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Requirements:<\/p>\n
Degree or diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.
\nMinimum 5\u201310 years of experience in setting up and managing sprinkler irrigation for<\/p>\n

Proven knowledge of: Pond and well development, Engine-powered water pumping systems, Pipe systems, fittings, and sprinkler layout for large fields.
\nExperience in sourcing irrigation equipment and materials locally and internationally.
\nAbility to read and interpret technical layouts and irrigation plans.
\nStrong leadership and problem-solving skills.
\nShamba mindset, ready to work hands-on and outdoors.
\nFluent in English (spoken and written).<\/p>\n
