\nHand in Hand Eastern Africa-Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania since 2018 with a mandate to operate in the country, and part of the Hand in Hand Global Network. HIHEA (TZ) currently leads field operations through six branches, Moshi, Arusha, Manyara, Dodoma, Singida, and Meatu.
\nSummary: Communication and IT Support Officer Job Description and Specifications

\n1. Job Summary
\nThe Communication and IT support officer will support HIHEA TZ in both technical IT functions and multimedia communication. The staff will assist in managing IT systems, supporting digital communication strategies, and playing a key role in photography, videography, and documentary content creation for organizational visibility and impact reporting.
\n2. Duties and Responsibilities
\nR1: Communication and Multimedia Production<\/p>\n
Capture high-quality photographs and videos during field activities, events, and training sessions.
\nCreate short video documentaries highlighting project impact, success stories, and beneficiary experiences.
\nEdit photo and video content using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or other editing software.
\nWrite compelling captions and narratives to accompany visual content.
\nMaintain and organize a digital archive of photo and video content.<\/p>\n
R2: Content Creation and Digital Presence<\/p>\n
Assist in managing HIHEA TZ\u2019s website and social media pages (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
\nCreate graphics, posters, and flyers for internal and external communications using tools like Canva or Adobe Illustrator.
\nSupport the development and distribution of newsletters and email updates.
\nAssist in live coverage of events through photography and social media posting.<\/p>\n
R3: Documentation and Reporting<\/p>\n
Assist in compiling media content for reports, presentations, and donor visibility.
\nSupport the documentation of IT-related issues and their resolutions.
\nHelp with writing case studies and communication briefs.<\/p>\n
R4: IT Support<\/p>\n
Provide first-level technical support to users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
\nAssist in the installation, setup, and maintenance of computers, printers, and network devices.
\nMaintain an updated inventory of IT equipment and software.
\nMonitor system and internet usage under supervision and report any technical anomalies.
\nSupport system testing and assist in user training on basic IT tools and systems.<\/p>\n
R5: Other Duties<\/p>\n
Carry out any other IT or communication-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.<\/p>\n
3. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Other
\na. Education and Training<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in information technology, Mass Communication, Multimedia, Journalism, or a related field.
\nPractical knowledge of photography, videography, and video editing is required.<\/p>\n
b. Skills and Competencies<\/p>\n
Proficiency in operating DSLR or mirrorless cameras and related equipment.
\nAbility to shoot and edit professional-quality videos and photos.
\nSkills in using editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Canva, etc.).
\nBasic understanding of IT systems, troubleshooting, and user support.
\nStrong writing and storytelling skills in English and Swahili.
\nCreativity and attention to detail.
\nOrganized, flexible, and able to work in remote field locations when needed.
\nStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
\nHe\/She must be based in Arusha.<\/p>\n
4. Work Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, media engagement, or a similar role.
\nExperience in developing and implementing communication strategies.
\nProven experience in managing social media accounts and content creation.
\nFamiliarity with working in NGOs, international organizations, or development projects is desirable.<\/p>\n
