She starts a ripple effect that impacts her family, community, and country.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s the Girl Effect.<br \/>\nContext of the role<br \/>\nGirl Effect is looking for a Finance Manager to lead on all finance, grant management, general administration and\u00a0 procurement procedures for the office in Tanzania. From a finance perspective, you will be responsible for ensuring good accounting practices, budget\/grant management, financial reporting and audit\/donor\/tax compliance.\u00a0 From the procurement and administration side, you will manage the day to day procurement, logistics and administration activities, ensuring that those activities uphold GE procurement policy and best practices in all aspects of procurement implementation. You\u00a0 will also oversee procurement solicitations and sourcing procedures, cost and selection analysis, issuance of contract awards, reviewing payment requests, monitoring awardee performance, and maintaining procurement files.<br \/>\nWhat you will do<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate and manage the input of data in the accounting system, manage the accounts payable, processing payroll and ensure tax remittance to Government boards<br \/>\nPerform the month-end activites as per the agreed organizational timelines (Transaction entries, Journal entries, reconciliation etc) and maintain all balance sheet and Profit and Less (P&amp;L) schedules as required on a monthly basis<br \/>\nPreparation of the Year-end Financial Statements and provision of supporting schedules to the auditors<br \/>\nEnsure adherence to local statutory and tax requirements<br \/>\nManage and provide documents and information for the statutory, tax and internal audits<br \/>\nOversee the daily management of financial transactions, cash disbursements, bank reconciliation, accounts payable to ensure adequate controls over cash and bank holdings<br \/>\nWork closely with the country lead and global team to ensure annual budgets and re-forecast align with program activities by carrying out financial analysis and periodic tracking to avoid over or underspending<br \/>\nPreparing monthly, quarterly and annual accounts and expenditure reports of projects and organise review financial meetings on monthly basis with unit heads<br \/>\nConduct a review of partner financial reports and make occasional field trips to monitor finance-related issues and procedures<br \/>\nLead on generating financial reports to different stakeholders when required\u00a0Manage external relationships with stakeholders ie banking institutions, Government boards, vendors, partners etc<br \/>\nEnsure finance and budgeting is embedded and understood across all teams within Girl Effect Tanzania and that the team leads have the relevant information to manage their budgets effectively<br \/>\nReview, record and prioritize purchasing requests and obtain additional information\/documentation as required; provide assistance to the requisitions in preparing\u00a0 scope of work and specifications of goods and services; propose product substitutions consistent with requirements to achieve cost savings; determine the availability of funding sources<br \/>\nSupervise and mentor the finance and operations team, fostering capacity development, performance management, and effective cross-team collaboration<br \/>\nProvide onboarding, training, and continuous support to ensure staff &amp; consultants adhere to policies, procedures, and compliance standards<br \/>\nOversee and maintain the organization\u2019s financial systems and processes in-country; propose and implement improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Establish and enforce strong internal control systems to mitigate risk and ensure proper use of funds<br \/>\nIdentify and proactively manage financial and operational risks, in collaboration with the country and global teams. Ensure business continuity plans, fraud prevention measures, and financial integrity mechanisms are in place and periodically reviewed<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with donor financial requirements and coordinate timely, accurate submission of donor financial reports<br \/>\nProvide strategic financial insights and scenario planning to support country leadership in decision-making, resource allocation, and growth planning. Participate in high-level planning and proposal development by providing accurate financial inputs, cost recovery analysis, and donor budget design<br \/>\nChampion and uphold Girl Effect\u2019s safeguarding, anti-fraud, and ethical conduct standards within all financial, procurement, and operational activities<\/p>\n<p>Who you are<\/p>\n<p>You have a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting with at least 7 years of professional experience in a busy finance, grant management and procurement environment<br \/>\nYou are a qualified accountant and have the required membership and registration to perform the accounting functions in Tanzania<br \/>\nKnowledge of procurement and logistics<br \/>\nYou have knowledge and qualifications in financial management,\u00a0 grant management and accounting<br \/>\nYou have experience in managing the overall accounts of an organization<br \/>\nYou have a working knowledge of the systems and processes related to expenditure management on donor-funded projects and programmes<br \/>\nYou have proven operations experience, including knowledge of relevant policies and systems for organizations in the non-profit sector in Tanzania<br \/>\nYou are computer literate and master of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc) with a willingness to learn new financial management and procurement systems<br \/>\nYou\u2019re driven and able to deliver against key timelines and deadlines, through prioritisation and organisation<br \/>\nYou are happy to work as part of a\u00a0 team, taking on small tasks alongside big responsibilities<br \/>\nYou enjoy taking the initiative and making decisions as part of a complex and varied workload<br \/>\nKnowledge of ERP systems (Salesforce) and related software would be an advantage<br \/>\nYou\u2019re able to work with others at a distance and use systems for sharing information to\u00a0 support this<br \/>\nYou\u2019re confident at developing presentations and public speaking to be able to externally represent the work we do with passion and energy<br \/>\nYou\u2019re fluent in Kiswahili and English, with a high level of writing in both languages<\/p>\n<p>What else you should know<br \/>\nAs we continue to scale and grow \u2013 we are hugely ambitious for our future and we are looking for people who are driven to change the world for girls.<br \/>\nOur teams are a diverse mix across sectors (non-profit and commercial) and specialisms (from Brand and Creative through to Gender and Insight).
