Position Objective<\/p>\n
Ensure the bank complies with the Banks and Financial Institutions Regulations, the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, and minimizes operational and financial risks.
\nEnsure the bank\u2019s policies, processes, and procedures align with business and Board of Directors\u2019 risk appetite, are fully implemented, and adhered to by all incumbents.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Develop and implement the Risk Management framework.
\nDevelop a risk assessment and measurement system.
\nIdentify current and emerging operational risks in the bank\u2019s daily operations.
\nMonitor potential risks continuously and brief on situations requiring prompt action.
\nDevelop risk tolerance limits for management and board approval, with periodic reviews.
\nEvaluate the impact of changes in legislation and company policies on operational risk.
\nMonitor positions against approved risk tolerance limits.
\nCoordinate the development and review of policies to address the bank\u2019s risk exposure for board approval.
\nDevelop risk alerts for risk identification across all business units.
\nMonitor market, economic, and financial trends, both within and outside the bank, and advise management on minimizing risk exposure.
\nCoordinate the development of risk monitoring and control measures in all business units.
\nDevelop and implement operational risk management policies and procedures.
\nConduct regular risk assessments across different business units and operations.
\nCollaborate with internal departments to identify and mitigate risks.
\nIdentify potential risks related to processes, projects, and new initiatives.
\nDevelop and implement strategies to prevent, mitigate, and eliminate operational risks.
\nMonitor and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
\nInvestigate operational incidents and near misses.
\nEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements in internal controls.
\nPromote a culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.
\nSupport internal and external audits related to operational risk.
\nAnalyze risks associated with new products, processes, and systems to assess the bank\u2019s ability to manage them and provide guidance to minimize exposure.
\nPrepare periodical risk reports to guide management in understanding the bank\u2019s risk exposure for strategic interventions.
\nConduct research and due diligence on other banks\u2019 and financial institutions\u2019 operational risk management to ensure TCB remains competitive.
\nConduct periodic reviews to assess compliance with bank policies, procedures, and tolerance limits, reporting findings.
\nCreate awareness among staff on risk management practices and arrange training for improved performance.
\nMitigate, implement, and embed controls to address audit findings related to operational risk within allowed timeframes.
\nAnalyze the effectiveness of processes and systems in user departments and recommend improvements.
\nSet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for direct reports and conduct semi-annual and annual reviews.
\nEnsure timely, accurate, and reliable data for risk reports, regulatory returns, and board presentations.
\nPerform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience<\/p>\n
Master\u2019s degree in Banking, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration (majoring in Accounting or Finance), Risk Management, Actuarial Sciences, Insurance, Statistics, or Banking from a recognized university or equivalent qualifications.
\nMinimum of 16 years\u2019 working experience in a related field.
\nStrong leadership and people management skills.
\nExtensive knowledge of risk, risk systems, and industry regulations.
\nExpertise in the concepts, principles, and practices of operational risk.
\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.
\nProficiency in risk assessment methodologies and tools.
\nKnowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
\nExperience in developing and implementing risk management frameworks.
\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.
\nExperience in the financial industry is preferred.<\/p>\n
