ANTI-POACHING UNIT MANAGER VACANCY IN SOUTH WEST OF NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
\nWe are currently looking for qualified and experience candidate to join our client Anti-Poaching team in South west of Ngorongoro Conservation area.
\nCommitted wildlife conservation project is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of APU Manager. \nKey Duties & Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Strategic and Operational Leadership:<\/p>\n
Providing direction and guidance to anti-poaching teams, developing and implementing counter-poaching strategies, and ensuring alignment with broader conservation goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Personnel Management:<\/p>\n
Training, mentoring, and managing multi-disciplinary field personnel, ensuring they meet legal and operational requirements, including background checks and certifications.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Resource Management:<\/p>\n
Overseeing logistics, resources, and equipment for field operations, ensuring efficient deployment and utilization.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Data Management and Analysis:<\/p>\n
Collecting and analyzing data, including GPS mapping, for operational planning and reporting, utilizing relevant software systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Coordination and Collaboration:<\/p>\n
Working closely with local law enforcement agencies, relevant government bodies, and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts and share information.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Law Enforcement and Compliance:<\/p>\n
Ensuring compliance with security legislation, wildlife crime procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Intelligence Gathering and Analysis:<\/p>\n
Supervising the use of K9 units, aerial surveillance (e.g., drones), and other intelligence gathering methods.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Operational Deployments:<\/p>\n
Leading and coordinating anti-poaching patrols and other operations in challenging and remote environments.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Record Keeping and Reporting:<\/p>\n
Maintaining accurate records of all activities, using appropriate software, and preparing regular reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Physical Fitness and Safety:<\/p>\n
Ensuring personnel maintain physical fitness standards and adhere to safety protocols, including administering first aid and trauma care in the field.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Support for Broader Conservation Efforts:<\/p>\n
Contributing to broader conservation and wildlife management initiatives, such as community engagement and research.\u00a0
\nExperience:<\/p>\n
Senior Level Experience:<\/p>\n
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior role within a Counter-Poaching Unit, or equivalent military\/security position in a high-risk conservation area, according to one job posting.

Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary field teams in remote and challenging environments.<\/p>\n
Wildlife Crime:<\/p>\n
Knowledge of law enforcement\/security legislation and experience with arrest and apprehension procedures, especially related to wildlife crime.<\/p>\n
Firearms:<\/p>\n
Firearm certification and proven experience in firearm handling.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills:<\/p>\n
Experience working with K9 units, aerial surveillance (e.g., drones), and intelligence operations.<\/p>\n
Data Management:<\/p>\n
Proficiency in data recording, analysis, GPS data collection, and mapping, including GIS skills.
\nOther Requirements:<\/p>\n
Relevant Tertiary qualification.
\nFirearm competency certification and \/ or proven firearm handling experience.
\nHave previous with APU management, training, human resource management, logistics management and strategy development.
\nExperience in wildlife crime arrest \/ apprehension management & procedures.
\nPrevious experience in GPS data collection, recording and Mapping and GIS skills would be advantages.
\nMust be computer literate and fluent in English.
\nBe willing to work long, flexible hours, unsupervised and under pressure.
\nValid Driver\u2019s license plus PDP plus a current (no older than 3 months) Police Clearance Certificate.
