Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Role purpose:
\nThe Media Relations: Advocacy & Research role is responsible for managing media relationships that support advocacy initiatives and strengthen the work of External Affairs & Legal & Regulatory, assist in developing policy content and to contribute to the advocacy and research activities, as well as support programs that build VTPLC\u2019s strategic areas. This includes but not limited to; op-eds, paper launch, thought leadership forums, etc.
\nKey Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Developing and executing media relations strategies and placement for advocacy and research initiatives
\nBuilding relationships with key media contacts to secure positive coverage of advocacy and research efforts
\nConducting research and analysis to inform External Affairs strategies
\nDeveloping messaging and materials to support External Affairs efforts
\nMonitoring media coverage and analyzing trends related to the organization\u2019s advocacy and research initiatives.
\nCollaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging across all media channels<\/p>\n
Qualification, Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience<\/p>\n
University Degree.\u00a0 Preferably with a major in Mass Communication, Public Relations and\/or Advertising
\nProject management\/planning skills
\nMinimum 3-5 years\u2019 experience in communications field.
\nUnderstanding of marketing and communication principles
\nStrong interpersonal skills.
\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
\nComputer literacy in Word; Outlook; PowerPoint presentations & design; Excel.
\nAbility to manage and maintain key relationships with various internal stakeholders and external service providers
\nAbility to compile communication content (including but not limited to: email flashes, brochures, SMS messages, articles etc.) and disseminate messages across various internal channels
\nAbility to manage the intranet
\nAbility to write agency briefs as necessary<\/p>\n
