HJF is seeking a\u00a0\u00a0Manager, Communications\u00a0to\u00a0be In-charge of producing high-quality content that engages the community and builds brand recognition.
\nThis position will be in support\u00a0of HJFMRI Tanzania activities.
\nThe Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.\u00a0Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF\u2019s support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Create informative and interesting stories press releases, press kits, newsletters, and related marketing materials.
\nDevelop and implement effective communication strategies that build loyalty, brand awareness, and client satisfaction.
\nPlan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing and online materials.
\nWork with program staff and departments to generate new ideas and strategies.
\nSupervise all communications and external-facing projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready and submitted by the deadline.
\nCreate and send out press releases for new success stories and services; Prepare detailed media activity reports.
\nCreate communication and marketing strategies for new services, launches, events, and promotions.
\nResponsible for planning, coordination, and execution of all high-level VIP interactions
\nResponsible and editing and reviewing proposals and reports, as necessary
\nCoordinate crisis communications as needed with US-based HJF Headquarters.
\nDevelop and implement communications strategies and action points as per HJFMRI\u2019s communications strategy.
\nIdentify and guide HJFMRI-T key thematic program areas on development of relevant Information, Educational and Communication\/ Social Behavior Communication Change (IEC \/ SBCC) collateral materials
\nPromote the work of HJFMRI-T, through mainstream and social media, managing and updating the content of HJFMRI-T website, Twitter, Instagram, and all social media handles.
\nDesign and layout of creative artworks for different collateral materials and social media platforms.
\nWork with different program departments to copy-write social media messages on daily\/weekly activities and achievements.
\nAnalyze and monitor social media statistics on a regular basis and provide recommendations to increase reach through evidence-based data.
\nWork with HJF\/HJFMRI U.S.-based staff to ensure efforts align with organizational branding and strategy.
\nRespond to communication-related issues in a timely manner.
\nMay perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.<\/p>\n

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<\/p>\n
Excellent ability to communicate in both English and Kiswahili, both written and verbal
\nDemonstrated ability to effectively utilize social media channels to deliver content.
\nStrong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing\/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts to mixed audiences.
\nMust possess excellent organizational and planning skills.
\nSuperior project management and time management skills
\nA wide degree of creativity and broad range of experience
\nStrong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media\/social media.
\nSelf-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
\nProven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.
\nStrong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
\nUnderstanding of PEPFAR program and services and\/or related public health programs
\nMust be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
\nExcellent organizational and leadership abilities.<\/p>\n
Education and Experience<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field.
\nA minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.<\/p>\n
Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check if applicable.
