Role Purpose:<\/p>\n
The Senior Legal Specialist will be responsible for managing complex commercial transactions, drafting and negotiating supply chain contracts, handling litigation, advising on competition law, and resolving labour relations disputes. This role requires a deep understanding of legal principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments, internally and across Vodacom and Vodafone Group.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Commercial Transactions:\u00a0Lead and manage complex commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
\nSupply Chain Contracts:\u00a0Draft, review, and negotiate supply chain contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
\nLitigation:\u00a0Oversee and manage litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel, developing litigation strategies, and representing the company in legal proceedings.
\nCompetition Law:\u00a0Provide expert advice on competition law issues, ensuring compliance with antitrust regulations and handling related disputes.
\nLabor Relations Disputes:\u00a0Address and resolve labor relations disputes, including providing legal advice, handling employee grievances, and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
\nLegal Compliance:\u00a0Ensure the company\u2019s operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations and provide guidance on legal risks and opportunities.
\nPolicy Development:\u00a0Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
\nTraining and Education: Conduct training sessions for employees on legal topics, including contract management, compliance, and dispute resolution<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Core competencies, Knowledge and Experience<\/p>\n
A holder of Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university,
\nA Registered Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and Courts sub-ordinate thereto with no less than 5 years\u2019 experience.
\nStrong knowledge of commercial law, contract law, litigation, competition law, and labour relations
\nExperience in handling complex corporate and commercial transactions or projects
\nHigh level of computer literacy exceptionally conversant with Word, Excel and Power Point
\nExcellent negotiation, interpersonal skills and customer and business-oriented approach.
\nStrong communication skills, fluency in English and Kiswahili and ability to interact with other team members
\nAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\nMinimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role, preferably in-house in a telecommunication industry or any FMCG or busy corporate legal service-providing law firm.<\/p>\n
