not-for-profit organization that endeavours to provide fistula treatment and quality maternity care for all marginalized women throughout Tanzania.\u00a0 We do this through clinical excellence and in the example of displaying love, kindness and compassion regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.<br \/>\nMaternity Africa operates from its base at Kivulini Maternity Centre outside the city of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhat is this role about?<br \/>\nThis role requires a multiskilled individual to perform both the role of a vehicle Mechanic and a Driver to supports the organizations core business by ensuring efficient and safe operation of the hospital\u2019s transportation and fleet maintenance, transporting staffs, patients, hospital visitors and goods and conducting outreach in accordance with the hospital guidelines, protocols and transport and vehicles policy.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities (Mechanics)<\/p>\n<p>Assess vehicles\/machinery i.e. generators, lawn mowers to accurately diagnose and repair issues.<br \/>\nDetermines the extent of repairs needed and estimates the cost of parts needed for repairs.<br \/>\nWork with the transport officer to give details of parts and spares required for machinery or vehicle repairs.<br \/>\nIdentify, and propose plans of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades for organization\u2019s fleet.<br \/>\nLiaise with drivers to determine their automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects or problems to the transport officer.<br \/>\nPrioritize urgent repairs and work deliver with minimum supervision.<br \/>\nProvide routine inspections of vehicles and inform transport officer of any issues.<br \/>\nMaintains record of all repairs and maintenance work done.<br \/>\nPerforms preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment.<br \/>\nSupervision of vehicle repair process when a third-party vendor service is hired.<br \/>\nOffer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to vehicle users<br \/>\nPerforms duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities (Driver)<\/p>\n<p>Safe and professional transportation of staff, patients, organizations visitors and goods.<br \/>\nEnsuring that all cars have the required papers and equipment (road-books, triangle, fire extinguisher, road triangle, spare oil, coolant, map, insurance, first aid kit etc.)<br \/>\nMaintain required motor vehicle reports like mileage records, fuel gauge inspection and report any vehicle damage in accordance with company policy and procedures as required by Transport Officer.<br \/>\nComplete a vehicle check before every duty including the working order of the vehicle<br \/>\nReport defects and deficiencies of the vehicle and equipment to transport officer, and replace all items of vehicle inventory used<br \/>\nRemove and replace soiled linen and equipment within the vehicle in order to maintain sanitary conditions<br \/>\nProviding social care in non-emergency situations.<br \/>\nEnsure that health and safety guidelines are followed according to current policies and procedures<br \/>\nTo maintain the vehicle and equipment in accordance with the Maternity Africa policy.<br \/>\nIt is of primary importance that the speed limit is adhered to in all cases, and that driving is safe and the patient is comfortable.<br \/>\nTo provide a professional and caring service for all patients whilst in the care of Clinical Services.<br \/>\nTo ensure that at all times patient safety remains paramount and that safe systems of work are adhered to regarding wheel chairs, clamps, seat belts etc.<br \/>\nAt all times follow Organisational Standing Operational Procedures and policies of Maternity Africa<br \/>\nKeeping the interior and exterior of the vehicle in a clean and tidy state.<\/p>\n<p>Buy vitamins and supplements<br \/>\nVehicle electronics<br \/>\nQualifications Required.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Education: Must have a Form IV\/Secondary certificate.<br \/>\nAt-least 6 months training certificate in professional driving from National Institute of Transport (NIT)<br \/>\nMust have a vehicle mechanics training certificate.<br \/>\nExperience: 3+ years of progressive experience as a professional driver and a minimum of 2 years in vehicle maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle electronics<br \/>\nSkills and Competencies Required.<\/p>\n<p>Must hold a valid driver\u2019s license with a clean driving record.<br \/>\nStrong working knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform maintenance and repairs.<br \/>\nFamiliarity with Tanzanian Traffic and safety regulations and procedures.<br \/>\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.<br \/>\nHave ability to think quickly, troubleshoot problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.<br \/>\nMust be in good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.<br \/>\nPunctuality
