\nResponsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot onboard FMS hardware and antennas
\nMonitor and resolve network connectivity and system uptime issues
\nCoordinate with IT and vendors for infrastructure reliability
\nSupport integration of systems such as fatigue monitoring and VisionLink
\nMaintain documentation of system changes, device logs, and configurations
\nUse scripting (Python\/Bash) for diagnostics or alert automations
\nConfigure FMS terminals and reporting setups to enable end-users to generate data-driven reports independently.
\nTrain dispatchers and operators on optimal use of the dispatch systems, including hardware handling and first-level troubleshooting.
\nEnsure the mine-wide communication infrastructure (radios, Wi-Fi, antennas) is fully functional, expanded as needed, and optimized for real-time data flow.
\nLiaise with equipment vendors and IT service providers to manage contracts, software updates, hardware servicing, and support requests.
\nExtend communication and dispatch systems in line with pit expansion plans to ensure seamless coverage and fleet tracking.
\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware- or network-related data transmission issues affecting fleet visibility or performance.
\nSupport the implementation of action plans that enhance system output accuracy and operational efficiency.
\nDevelope and maintain safe work procedures for all dispatch hardware and communication-related tasks, ensuring compliance with NMGM\u2019s Health & Safety Policy.
\nContribute to a safe work environment by following and promoting best practices and legal safety requirements.
\nMaintain active communication with dispatch team members, supervisors, and support departments to align system performance with operational goals.
\nEnsure all dispatch hardware (in-cab units, monitoring TVs, radios) is operational and properly maintained.
\nKeep a complete inventory of system hardware and coordinate replacements or upgrades where needed.
\nSupport community and stakeholder engagement initiatives in alignment with Barrick\u2019s values and local development strategies.
\nExecute any additional tasks assigned by senior management to support fleet management and operational continuity.
\nEnsure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at North Mara Gold Mine.
\nActively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager and management team.
\nActively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
\nEnsure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
\nIdentifying the risks in their work area and using the correct controls.
\nReporting to the Supervisor immediately any actual or potential unsafe conditions or activities, mishaps, incidents, accidents, injuries or illnesses in the work place.
\nAssisting new employees in the application of the proper work procedures and practices.
\nUsing personal protective clothing or equipment as provided.
\nReporting any defective or damaged personal protective clothing, equipment, or gear, and returning the item to the Supervisor for replacement or repair.
\nComplying with instructions given pertaining to the use of personal protective clothing, equipment or gear or any matter in relation to health and safety
\nNot interfering with anything that has been provided in the interest of health and safety in the workplace.
\nNot engaging in any duties that require a certificate or written authorisation unless the relevant certificate or permit is held.
\nNot attempting any task unless they are trained, capable and competent to safely perform the task.
\nCooperating fully with any rehabilitation program to assist recovery from injury or illness for themselves or any other person.
\nEnvironment
\nEnsure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
\nEnsuring environmental risks of tasks are assessed and mitigated.
\nAdhering to environmental procedures to ensure good housekeeping, resource conservation, spill prevention and the appropriate disposal of wastes.
\nReporting all environmental incidents to the supervisor after implementing immediate corrective action.
\nPromoting environmentally sound work practices in peers and contractors.\u00a0 Informing persons in work area (employees, contractors and visitors) Of North Mara Gold Mine\u2019s Environmental Policy and Practices and notifying supervisor if persons refuse to comply.
\nSupport supervisors and coordinators in aligning system support with mining plans and production targets.
\nHelp align technician work activities with daily and weekly goals through clear task scheduling.
\nProactively plan maintenance and upgrades to avoid system downtime.
\nInstall, configure, and maintain hardware and network infrastructure to support dispatch systems and mobile equipment connectivity.
\nInstall and support fleet management systems (e.g., hardware\/software in equipment, servers, radios).
\nMonitor the condition and functionality of system components, perform preventive maintenance, and track inventories.
\nTroubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to ensure operational continuity.
\nCoordinate with external vendors for technical support and escalation of persistent system issues.
\nTrain end-users (e.g., dispatchers and operators) on system functionality and best practices
\nEnsure seamless Wi-Fi and radio network coverage across mining areas, especially during pit expansions.
\nMaintain proper documentation for system architecture, maintenance logs, and change management.
\nIdentify specific areas for cost improvement and ensure the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains.
\nEnsure efficient use of resources and parts through proper tracking and procurement planning.
\nTrack and report performance KPIs, system uptimes, hardware usage, and cost-related indicators.
\nSubmit regular reports to the Department Manager and highlight system improvements or required actions.
\nParticipate in reviews of safety, service, and financial indicators and propose improvements.<\/p>\n
Qualification requirements<\/p>\n
Diploma \/Advanced Diploma\/Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, or Telecommunications.
\nCertifications on Mine Dispatch System (FMS) Training \u2013 e.g., Hexagon, Modular Mining, or similar platforms
\nCertifications on CompTIA A+ or Network+ \u2013 foundational IT hardware and networking skills
\nCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) \u2013 for advanced networking infrastructure support
\nCertifications Basic Radio and Wireless Communication Systems
\nHolder of Valid Tanzania driving license.
\nMines Health & Safety Act Awareness.<\/p>\n
Experience and competencies needed.<\/p>\n
Minimum 3 years of experience in mining operations with a focus on dispatch and systems support
\nExposure to large multi-pit operations and use of large-scale mining equipment (e.g., drill rigs, blasting tools)
\nProven experience with installation and maintenance of FMS hardware and communication systems
\nSkilled in troubleshooting and technical fault resolution
\nExperience configuring and maintaining network infrastructure (e.g., Wi-Fi bridges, mesh networks, switches, repeaters)
\nFamiliarity with relational database structures and FMS backend logging systems
\nKnowledge of integrating auxiliary systems (e.g., fatigue monitoring, VisionLink, telemetry)
\nAbility to troubleshoot and resolve system-level software issues in dispatch technologies
\nDemonstrated ability to drive a light vehicle with a valid Tanzanian driver\u2019s license (or eligible to obtain one)
\nPhysically fit and capable of passing a mine-site medical assessment
\nStrong communication skills in English and ability to train and work with Tanzanian personnel
\nFamiliarity with incident\/accident investigation protocols
\nSound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
\nMines Health & Safety Act Awareness.
\nExcellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
\nStrong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
\nFamiliarity with and commitment to HSE best practice.
\nAbility to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.
