\nAbout the role
\n\u00a0
\nSightsavers\u2019 Global technical team are looking to recruit a Global Technical Lead, Eye Health (ECSA) to join their team. The post-holder will work closely with\u00a0the Technical Director, Eye Health & URE to ensure technical leadership is provided in eye health at the programmatic level.\u00a0They will ensure Sightsavers\u2019 projects in eye health are conceptualised, designed, and implemented as aligned with\u00a0thematic and programme strategy.\u00a0This role offers regional and international travel throughout the tenure.

\nResponsibilities
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Providing technical leadership and expertise in eye health to guide successful development and delivery of initiatives and programmes within the portfolio.
\nStrengthening the global programme portfolio through technical leadership and expertise in proposal development for restricted and unrestricted funding.
\nPioneering new strategic initiatives and innovative approaches, notably in cross-cutting priority areas such as climate action and gender responsiveness.
\nContributing to research, innovation, policy, advocacy and communications agendas. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
\nRepresenting Sightsavers at national, regional and international professional and sector specific forums\/meetings<\/p>\n
Skills and Experience<\/p>\n
Significant experience in leading and developing programmes in\u00a0eye health.
\nExperience of working with national government and international institutions such as the WHO and other International Development Organisations (INGDOs)
\nA Professional qualification in a relevant field, such as ophthalmology, optometry, public health
\nPostgraduate qualification (minimum Masters or equivalent experience) in a relevant field, such as public health, health service management, low vision\/rehabilitation, international development
\nKnowledge of current issues and best practices in eye health
\nFluent in written and spoken English
\nGood French and Portuguese are advantageous
\nStrong leadership, influencing and networking
\nStrong ability to develop and adapt programming guidance tools and other resources materials.
\nAn understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for people with disabilities.
\nAble to travel between 12 to 16 weeks a year (regional and international)
\nRight to work in either Tanzania, Zambia or Kenya<\/p>\n
