The role also contributes to managing relationships with global referral partners, optimizing reinsurance structures, and facilitating technical training to build capability across the operations team, enabling sustainable growth and operational excellence.<br \/>\nGeneral Responsibilities<br \/>\nUnderwriting &amp; Risk Management<br \/>\n\u00b7 Analyse and evaluate proposed risks, making sound underwriting decisions on acceptance, modification, or rejection.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Determine appropriate rates, terms, and conditions in line with company guidelines and ensure strict adherence to TIRA\u2019s minimum rates.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Oversee the communication and follow-up of risk survey recommendations to ensure timely implementation.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Supervise underwriters to maintain quality, consistency, and efficiency in underwriting processes.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure timely preparation and issuance of underwriting documents to clients and intermediaries.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Oversee renewal processes to ensure notices are issued in line with set guidelines and timelines.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Manage policy cancellations in accordance with established procedures and compliance standards.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Ensure risks are accepted only upon confirmation of premium payment, safeguarding company financial integrity and the treaties in place.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Maintain accurate and secure client records (manual and electronic), ensuring compliance with company policies and data protection standards.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Deliver on performance metrics as defined in the company\u2019s strategy map and personal scorecard.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Provide oversight and conduct regular checks on underwriting work processed by team members. Maintain a full audit trail for accountability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Generate accurate and timely reports for management, regulators, and global referral partners. Reports should cover underwriting performance, renewals, risk management, compliance and operational efficiency.<br \/>\nGlobal Referral Business Management &amp; Reinsurance<br \/>\n\u00b7 Manage and nurture relationships with global referral business partners to drive new businesses and strengthen existing pipelines.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Coordinate and facilitate risk placements referred to by global partners, ensuring accurate underwriting and adherence to agreed terms.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Support the placement and administration of reinsurance treaties and facultative arrangements to optimize risk transfer.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Monitor the quality, timeliness, and profitability of business received through referral partners.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Provide technical guidance on complex risks referred from partners, ensuring proper risk assessment and pricing.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth onboarding and continuous engagement of global partners<br \/>\nTechnical Training Roles<br \/>\n\u00b7 Facilitate and deliver technical training programs for the underwriting and operations team, ensuring alignment with business needs and annual training plans.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Support unit managers and heads of department (HODs) in analysing skills gaps and measuring the impact of technical training interventions.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Champion change management initiatives within the operations team, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.<br \/>\n\u00b7 Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, adapting content and methods to maximize operational competence.<br \/>\nKey Performance Measures<br \/>\n\u00b7 As described in your Personal Scorecard<br \/>\nWorking Relationships<br \/>\nInternal Relationships:<br \/>\n\u00b7 Accountable to Underwriting Manager<br \/>\n\u00b7 Required to liaise and work closely with Sales, Finance, Claims and other departments as may be necessary<br \/>\nExternal Relationships:<br \/>\n\u00b7 Brokers<br \/>\n\u00b7 Banks &amp; financial institutions<br \/>\n\u00b7 Insurance companies<br \/>\n\u00b7 TIRA and other regulatory institutions<br \/>\nKnowledge, experience and qualifications required<br \/>\nKnowledge, experience and qualifications required<br \/>\n1. Bachelor\u2019s degree (Insurance option preferred)<br \/>\n2. Professional qualification in Insurance (Dip CII or equivalent)<br \/>\n3. 6 years in experience in underwriting in a similar position, two of which should be in a supervisory level.<br \/>\n4. Knowledge of Insurance Industry and concepts<br \/>\n5.
