\nZambia Cargo and Logistics Limited (ZCL) is a regional logistics service provider and wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). ZCL operates dry ports in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and Walvis Bay, Namibia. The company also has a regional freight forwarding office in Ndola, Zambia and is present at various border points.

\nCustoms Clearing Officer \u2013 1 Post
\nA) Responsibilities for the Role<\/p>\n
Preparing, reviewing, and submitting customs declarations for imports and exports in compliance with customs regulations.
\nCompleting and processing all required documentation such as bills of entry, certificates of origin, commercial invoices, and tariff codes.
\nLiaising with customs authorities to ensure timely clearance of goods at ports and border posts.
\nCoordinating with freight forwarders, transporters, and warehouse teams to facilitate smooth delivery after clearance.
\nClassifying goods correctly according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes and ensuring accurate duty and tax calculations.
\nMaintaining updated knowledge of tariff schedules, duty rates, exemptions, and import\/export procedures.
\nAdvising clients on customs regulations, tax obligations, and import\/export restrictions.
\nHandling disputes, delays, or queries with customs by providing additional documentation or clarifications as required.
\nConducting internal checks and audits of customs documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
\nMaintaining detailed records of customs declarations, payments, and clearance transactions.
\nPreparing reports on customs clearance performance, costs, and turnaround time.
\nIdentifying potential risks or issues in customs processes and recommending corrective measures.
\nEnsuring proper documentation and insurance coverage for goods handled through customs.
\nPerform any other duties that may be assigned by a reporting supervisor.<\/p>\n
B) Minimum Acceptable Qualifications<\/p>\n
Diploma or Bachelor\u2019s degree in Customs Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
\nCertification in customs clearing or international trade (e.g., FIATA Diploma or a relevant customs certification).
\n3-5 years of experience in customs clearing, freight forwarding, or logistics.
\nExtensive experience with customs documentation, clearance procedures, and regulatory bodies to facilitate import and export operations.
\nThorough understanding of customs regulations, import\/export laws, and tariff classifications.
\nFamiliarity with customs brokerage, valuation.<\/p>\n
