The project aims to strengthen the seaweed value chain in Kaskazini Unguja and Kaskazini Pemba, with a focus on women and youth, who constitute the majority of the sector\u2019s workforce.<br \/>\nReporting Lines<br \/>\nThe National Seaweed Value Chain Development Specialist will work under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Tanzania, and that of the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), and guidance from other technical officers at the FAO Headquarter, Regional and Sub regional offices, and working in close collaboration with other relevant officers at the country office.<br \/>\nTechnical Focus<br \/>\nThe National Seaweed Value Chain Development Specialist will provide support in planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities, strategically also ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in all project-related operations.<br \/>\nTasks and responsibilities<br \/>\n\u2022 Support development, as appropriate, implementation, monitoring and possible revisions of the project workplan, including the budget.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure that the appropriate implementation and operational arrangements, in accordance with FAO rules and procedures, and technical support and inputs are in place for the successful achievement of project expected results.<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist in the planning and production of communication products on project achievements, as appropriate, and the SSF Guidelines.<br \/>\n\u2022 Encourage collaboration and synergies with other related initiatives and projects in URT, including \u2013 but not limited to \u2013 the UNJP\/URT\/173\/UNJ.<br \/>\n\u2022 Support the implementation of the Joint Programme on Transforming Seaweed Farming through Integrated Financial Solutions for Enhanced Food Systems in Zanzibar:<br \/>\no Assist in monitoring progress of project implementation.<br \/>\no Actively seek supplementary sources of funding and organize\/participate in meetings with donors.<br \/>\no Identify possible collaboration and synergies with other projects and initiatives in URT.<br \/>\n\u2022 Participate in monthly catch-up meetings with other PUNOs and keep project progress monitoring file up to date, as appropriate.<br \/>\n\u2022 Contribute to project progress and final reports for the donor.<br \/>\nFAO Standards and guidelines:<br \/>\n\u2022 Liaison with OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point\/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, aligned messaging, and appropriate review and clearance processes.<br \/>\n\u2022 All communication materials will follow FAO clearance processes and comply with FAO standards, including:<br \/>\nFAO Strategic Framework 2022-31: https:\/\/www.fao.org\/strategic-framework\/en<br \/>\nFAO social media policy and guidelines: https:\/\/www.fao.org\/2\/socialmedia<br \/>\nSocial Media Branding Guidelines: https:\/\/openknowledge.fao.org\/handle\/20.500.14283\/cb5044en<br \/>\nFAOSTYLE https:\/\/openknowledge.fao.org\/handle\/20.500.14283\/cb8081en<br \/>\nFAO terminology http:\/\/www.fao.org\/faoterm<br \/>\nFAO Names of Countries https:\/\/www.fao.org\/nocs\/en<br \/>\nStory guidelines, Story template, UN map standards, FAO logo policy and related branding guidelines (available to staff).<br \/>\n\u2022 Further guidance regarding FAO communications, policies and procedures can be found through the FAO intranet, OCC section.<br \/>\nCANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING<br \/>\nMinimum Requirements<br \/>\n\u2022 University degree in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, food systems, rural development, or a related field<br \/>\n\u2022 At least 5 years of relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in aquaculture, fisheries, blue economy, or agricultural value chains<br \/>\n\u2022 Working knowledge of English; knowledge of Kiswahili is essential<br \/>\n\u2022 National of Zanzibar<br \/>\nFAO Core Competencies<br \/>\n\u2022 Results Focus<br \/>\n\u2022 Teamwork<br \/>\n\u2022 Communication<br \/>\n\u2022 Building Effective Relationships<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement<br \/>\nSelection Criteria<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English<br \/>\n\u2022 Proven experience working with government institutions, cooperatives, and community-based organizations.<br \/>\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION<br \/>\nFAO does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing)<br \/>\nApplications received after the closing date will not be accepted<br \/>\nPlease note that FAO only considers higher educational qualifications obtained from an institution accredited\/recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), a list updated by the International Association of Universities (IAU) \/ United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
