Job Purpose:
\nData Science is a sub-unit under the Innovation Department in charge of leading the delivery of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning strategy to ensure NMB can compete in a changing landscape where data science is a key future-oriented strategic differentiator.
\nThe Data Scientist will use a combination of statistical analysis, machine learning, data visualization, and programming skills to extract valuable information from data. Design and implement predictive models or intelligent algorithms to better understand the drivers of business performance and enable improved management decision-making.<\/p>\n
Main Responsibilities:
\nStrategic Planning<\/p>\n
Implement data science techniques in analyzing and interpreting large volumes of data
\nDrive the use of data for personalization, drive behavioral incentives, risk controls, and proactive fraud detection.
\nSupport utilization of advanced analytical methodologies and intelligent algorithms in all parts of the banking businesses and operations.
\nExplore how data can be used towards building solutions that are innovative, creative and drive change.
\nData Modelling
\nImplement modern deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch, MXNet, etc).
\nGuide on machine learning algorithms that can find deep patterns and insights in large volumes of information
\nApply underlying theory, principles and application of machine learning models.
\nWork with other stakeholders in ensuring a broad and wide audience on these underlying principles and theories.
\nImplement data science processes like problem formulation, data collection, data preprocessing, exploratory data analysis, model selection and training, evaluation, deployment, interpretability, regular updates and maintenance.
\nImplement algorithmic products leveraging core algorithmic data science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence capabilities
\nDevelop internal models\/processes, such as machine learning models, numerical optimization, statistical significance testing, ML -as-a-service API development and streamline event data processing.
\nAdopt ethical Artificial Intelligence & Data science design principles that are morally right and socially responsible
\nData Platforms
\nRecommend appropriate system solutions, modeling approaches, and associated risks for a variety of business problems.
\nImplement advanced data platforms, such as Data Lake responsible for processing, analyzing and storing unstructured and semi-structured data
\nImplement real-time analysis capabilities which will allow the bank to provide real time services and personalized user experience.
\nProvide for data visualization tools that intricate data into coherent visual formats
\nResearch and explore open distributed architecture with the focus to decouple software from hardware, empowering processing capabilities for massive amounts of data and supporting linear data platforms expansions.
\nExplore artificial intelligence platforms that provide infrastructure, tools, and algorithms to develop, train, and deploy machine learning models that can be used by data scientists, analysts, and developers.<\/p>\n
Knowledge and Skills:<\/p>\n
Programming languages e.g. SQL, Python and R.
\nBI & Data warehouse
\nML Techniques
\nBig data platforms
\nStrong mathematical & numeracy skills
\nUnderstanding of reporting & data visualizations tools
\nUnderstanding of ETL framework and ETL tools
\nExcellent analytical, creative and problem-solving skills.
\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.
\nAbility to work effectively within a team.
\nAbility to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
\nAbility to work independently with limited supervision
\nData oriented personality<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n
BSc in Computer Science, Data science, Mathematics or relevant field.
\nAtleast 4 years\u2019 work experience as a Data Scientist
\nExperience with big data platforms and tools including Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Spark and MapReduce
\nExperience with programing languages including SQL, Python, Scala and Perl; and R.
\nExperience with SQL and NoSQL databases
\nExperience in data mining & machine learning algorithms and their implementations
\nExperience with manipulating large data set
\nExperience in financial services especially in Banking is a bonus
