Position Description
\nBulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an UG Leading Hand Electrician Expatriate to join and grow our team. This role is responsible to evaluate, assemble, install, and maintain electrical systems in structures, machinery, and equipment to ensure that they work accordingly. To ensure activities in the Engineering are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

\nReporting to: UG Electrical Foreman
\nDuration: Fixed Contract
\nResponsibilities:
\nManage & exercise control over the entire surface and UG electrical reticulation network.
\nPerform statutory compliance inspections, audits and tests.
\nCompile reports\/presentations on power consumption and supply.
\nEnsure LOM electrical supply and demand is calculated, planned and executed.
\nConduct earth fault calculations and ensure HV and MV protection relays are set correctly.
\nFault finding, repair and testing of AC & DC variable speed drives \/ variable frequency drives\/ soft starters.
\nEnsure critical spares are ordered and maintained, to prevent production loss.
\nConceive and plan the electrical equipment and systems to operate in demanding conditions at the mine site
\nResearch, specify, recommend, install and commission the electrical equipment and systems as requested.
\nProvide trouble-shooting support to improve operational efficiencies.
\nProvide technical leadership for maintenance departments through the use of computerized planning, modelling and predictive maintenance systems
\nLead the implementation of cutting-edge processes and safety practices.
\nPrepare tendering competitions, evaluate technical aspects of bids, supervise contractors, negotiate variations and remedial works, assure quality, measure work done, approve and accept works.
\nLead or work with a team to ensure projects are completed on time and within allocated budget, and in accordance to international recognized quality standards.
\nWrite reports, attend meetings, exchange information with other professionals, record and store information in compliance with legislation, regulations and company policies
\nEnsure safety, improve operational efficiency and quality, control production costs and protection of the environment at all stages of a mine life cycle.
\nWork cooperatively with other departments, project managers, supply chain and mine management to optimize production, reduce costs, solve problems and meet deadlines.
\nInterpret technical drawing
\nPerform electrical\/electronic measurement
\nConduct electrical tests on HV electrical machines
\nPerform manual soldering\/de-soldering \u2013 electrical\/electronic components
\nPerform high reliability soldering and de-soldering
\nDiagnose and maintain electronic controlling systems on mobile plant
\nInstall and test electrical wiring and circuits up to 1000 volts AC and 1500 volts
\nDisconnect\/reconnect fixed wired equipment up to 1000 volts AC\/1500 volts DC
\nFault find\/repair electrical equipment\/components up to 1000 volts AC\/1500 volts DC
\nFault find, test and calibrate instrumentation systems and equipment (MEM18054B)
\nQualification Requirements:
\nBachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent post trade qualifications
\nUse of AutoCAD Electrical and SAP Plant Maintenance software, as well as African Expat experience will be an added advantage but not essential
\nExperience and Skills Requirements:
\nMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience Electrical Engineering.
\nWork experience in design or execution in high voltage engineering.
\nWork experience in design or execution on electrical machines.
\nKnowledge on electrical control engineering systems, SCADA, PLC etc
\nExperience\/knowledge in design and specifications of electrical power distribution systems, eg, transformers, MDBs, and MCCs.
\nExperience in developing project schedules and plans by using MS Project or equivalent.
\nExperience in managing large scale projects
\nAbility to work in a team and remain professional at all times.
\nExperience in the Mining Industry will be an added advantage.
