\nOverall Purpose of the Role
\nThe Head of Business Development and Partnerships will play a critical role in driving the Mkapa Foundation\u2019s mission forward by cultivating relationships, securing resources, and ensuring the foundation\u2019s sustainability.
\nKey Roles and Responsibilities
\n1. Strategy Development and Implementation<\/p>\n
Develop and implement the foundation\u2019s business development strategy, ensuring alignment with the foundation\u2019s mission and objectives.
\nIdentify growth opportunities by researching and identifying new opportunities for the foundation to expand its impact, whether through new funding sources, partnerships, or innovative programs.<\/p>\n
2. Partnership Building and Relationship Management<\/p>\n
Forge strong, sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, local and international NGOs, private sector companies, and community organizations.
\nEstablish collaborations with international donors, philanthropists, and development agencies to leverage resources and expertise.
\nEngage with a diverse group of stakeholders to create value-driven collaborations, ensuring mutual benefits.<\/p>\n
3. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization<\/p>\n
Lead efforts to secure funding through grants, donations, sponsorships, and other income-generating activities. This includes working with international donors, foundations, and private-sector partners.
\nOversee the development of compelling grant proposals and funding applications.
\nDiversify funding streams by exploring and implementing new ways to raise funds, including partnerships with the private sector, social enterprises, or creating income-generating programs.<\/p>\n
4. Networking and Advocacy<\/p>\n
Serve as the face of the organization in public forums, conferences, and meetings, promoting the foundation\u2019s mission and vision to potential partners and donors.
\nAdvocate for the Foundation\u2019s mission\/work and its impact by building relationships with policymakers, influencers, and other organizations.<\/p>\n
5. Program Development and Impact Assessment<\/p>\n
Work with program teams to design initiatives that address critical community needs, ensuring these programs are aligned with the foundation\u2019s mission and objectives.
\nMonitor and evaluate Partnerships, ensuring that collaborations are effectively implemented and delivering the desired outcomes.<\/p>\n
6. Organizational Leadership and Team Management
\n\u00a0Work\u00a0placements<\/p>\n
Lead and manage a team focused on business development, partnerships, and fundraising.
\nProvide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team\u2019s success.
\nCross-functional collaboration with other departments to ensure a coordinated approach.<\/p>\n
7. Reporting and Compliance<\/p>\n
Monitor and report on partnership activities and funding use, ensuring transparency and compliance.
\nProvide regular updates to the Management, Board, stakeholders, and donors on the progress of business development, partnership outcomes, and financial growth.<\/p>\n
Skills and Qualifications<\/p>\n
Master\u2019s degree in international development, Business Administration, Marketing, Communication or related field is preferred.
\nAt least ten (10) years demonstrated professional experience in strategic partnerships and fundraising from major government donors, multilateral agencies, corporate donors, foundations\/philanthropists and\/or private sector.
\nStrong networking skills, particularly ability to build relationships across various sectors.
\nExperience or understanding of social enterprise will be an added advantage.
\nStrong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
\nAbility to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.<\/p>\n
