The role involves veterinary services, daily animal care, disease prevention, treatment, breeding support, record keeping, and compliance with animal health regulations. Livestock under care include, but are not limited to,\u00a0cattle, goats, and sheep.<br \/>\nBuy vitamins and supplements<\/p>\n<p>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\nAnimal Health &amp; Veterinary Services<\/p>\n<p>Diagnose, treat, and manage diseases affecting cattle, goats, sheep, and any other livestock kept at Lulenge.<br \/>\nDevelop and implement preventive health programs including vaccination, deworming, dipping, spraying, and parasite control.<br \/>\nConduct routine health inspections and promptly address any signs of illness, injury, or distress.<br \/>\nPerform minor surgical and veterinary procedures as required and within professional scope.<br \/>\nManage emergency animal health situations and disease outbreaks.<br \/>\nAdvise management on animal health risks, nutrition, and welfare improvement strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Livestock Care &amp; Welfare<\/p>\n<p>Ensure proper daily care of livestock, including feeding, watering, housing, and hygiene.<br \/>\nMonitor animal behavior, body condition, growth, and productivity.<br \/>\nEnsure humane handling and treatment of animals in line with animal welfare standards.<br \/>\nOversee quarantine and isolation of sick or newly introduced animals.<\/p>\n<p>Breeding &amp; Production Support<\/p>\n<p>Support breeding programs including heat detection, mating, pregnancy diagnosis, and calving\/lambing\/kidding management.<br \/>\nAssist in reducing mortality rates and improving herd\/flock productivity.<br \/>\nMonitor reproductive performance and advise on genetic improvement strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Farm Management Support<\/p>\n<p>Support general farm management activities related to livestock operations, including:<\/p>\n<p>Encroachment control within farm boundaries<br \/>\nCleaning and thinning of grazing areas<br \/>\nMaintenance of livestock farm roads and paddocks<br \/>\nMonitoring and demarcation of farm boundaries related to livestock management.<br \/>\nSupervise and monitor grazing areas to identify, control, and prevent livestock exposure to poisonous or harmful plants<br \/>\nCoordinate livestock movements in line with farm operational plans.<\/p>\n<p>Farm Biosecurity &amp; Compliance<\/p>\n<p>Implement and enforce farm biosecurity measures to prevent disease introduction and spread.<br \/>\nEnsure compliance with national veterinary laws, animal health regulations, and industry best practices in Tanzania.<br \/>\nCoordinate with government veterinary officers, laboratories, and inspectors when required.<\/p>\n<p>Records &amp; Reporting<\/p>\n<p>Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on:<\/p>\n<p>Animal health and treatments<br \/>\nVaccination and deworming schedules<br \/>\nMortalities and disease cases<br \/>\nAnimal herd physical counting once per month<br \/>\nBreeding, births, weighing, and productivity<\/p>\n<p>Prepare regular animal health and welfare reports for management review.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Supervision &amp; Training<\/p>\n<p>Provide technical guidance and training to livestock attendants, herders, and farm staff on animal health and welfare.<br \/>\nEnsure proper use and storage of veterinary drugs, equipment, and consumables.<\/p>\n<p>Other Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Participate in farm planning meetings and contribute to livestock development strategies.<br \/>\nPerform any other duties related to livestock health and care as assigned by management.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS &amp; REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s Degree or Diploma in\u00a0Veterinary Medicine,\u00a0Animal Health, or a related field from a recognized institution.<br \/>\nMust be registered with the relevant veterinary professional body in Tanzania (where applicable).<br \/>\nMinimum of\u00a02\u20135 years\u00a0practical experience in livestock health management (cattle, goats, and sheep preferred).<br \/>\nStrong knowledge of livestock diseases, treatment protocols, and preventive healthcare.<br \/>\nAbility to work in rural farm conditions with minimal supervision.<br \/>\nGood record-keeping and reporting skills.<br \/>\nHigh level of integrity, responsibility, and respect for animal welfare.<\/p>\n<p>SKILLS &amp; COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n<p>Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills<br \/>\nGood communication and teamwork abilities<br \/>\nPractical hands-on veterinary and animal handling skills<br \/>\nAbility to plan and implement health programs<br \/>\nBasic computer literacy (for records and reporting)<\/p>\n<p>WORKING CONDITIONS<\/p>\n<p>Based at Lulenge Farm with possible outdoor and fieldwork exposure<br \/>\nMay require working beyond normal hours during emergencies, calving seasons, or disease outbreaks<\/p>\n<p>Sharing is Caring!
